I am interested in linking #whimbrel chick growth to their food resources. To do that, I started in May by finding as many nests as possible. More nests = more chicks. This season that meant 110 nests.

Como ya sabréis, la longitud de onda (lambda) es la distancia que recorre una perturbación periódica (una onda) que se propaga por un medio en un ciclo o repetición. La frecuencia (f) es la medida del nº de ciclos o repeticiones de la onda por unidad de tiempo. Su relación es 👀
Siendo v la velocidad de la onda en el medio. Si la onda fuese e.m. 💡, v=300.000 km/s. También sabréis, las ondas más largas (f⬇️) se propagan a mayores distancias que las ondas más cortas (f ⬆️). ¿Por qué? Porque las ondas más cortas (f ⬆️) se atenúan más que las ondas largas.

This work led by our postdoc Clément Rambour shows that SAR can significantly improve flood detection using #remotesensing data.

In general, when a habitat has more #birds, it also has more of all living things. In scientific terms, we say that birds are good surrogates or indicators of #biodiversity.

This is excellent, because counting birds is really easy. Many of them sing or call. So, we can do a field survey of birds in a habitat and use that number to find a relative count of all biodiversity.
