Requentando um material que já postei com dicas de R pra quem tá começando.

Antes de tudo: aprendam a usar RMarkdown ou Quarto (melhor) para fazer relatórios direto no R e não depender de script + word. É mais fácil do que parece!
1) RMarkdown
a) Manual: bookdown.org/yihui/rmarkdow…
b) Pra consulta rápida.: rstudio.com/wp-content/upl…
2) Quarto

Tutorial Thread🧵 on how to create Climate maps using R Language specifically ClimateR🌧️🌤️ package created by Mike Johnson...In this tutorial I'm going to use The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia 🇸🇦#gischat #cartography #GIS #geospatial #Remotesensing #dataviz #R #rspatial #mapping
So At first Climate R is package created specifically to deal with climate illustration ......So in order to get it working you have to Have Remote package already and you have to Install Using the codes below. Codes for installing Climate R
So after that were going prepare the Tempreture illustration in which they are three ways of illustrating Mean Tempreture(One map),Annual Tempreture(Mutiple Maps) and Monthly Tempreture.

New logos for a bunch of #rspatial packages:

{osrm}: An interface between R and the OSRM API. OSRM is a routing service based on OpenStreetMap data. This package allows to compute routes, trips, isochrones and travel distances matrices (travel time and kilometric distance).

{tanaka}: The Tanaka method enhances the representation of topography on a map using shaded contour lines. North-west light contours represent illuminated topography and south-east dark contours represent shaded topography.

Anyone wants to get started or has used #rspatial and learned from tutorials/courses using packages such as {rgdal} {rgeos} {sp} {raster}? Are you getting used to them already? You might want to reconsider 🤔
🧵 1/n
For the past few months the R Spatial community of developers and active users has been dealing with the news of the retirement of {rgdal} & {rgeos}
🧵 2/n
For {sp} is a similar story, although still getting maintenance, a migration to {sf} should be mostly preferred for any new developments and implementations

In this thread I’ll summarize a project that I developed this semester with my colleagues @PicoElhombrebug and Mafalda Moncada Cordeiro entitled “Bear with Me: The impact of the natural expansion of the brown bear (Ursus arctos) into Portugal".
#bears #conservation #carnivores
In this project, we were challenged by our professor @lmrosalino to develop a conservation plan that would be hypothetically submitted for a research grant. We used a modified version of the @ruffordgrants as template for the project. We chose to focus on the brown bear. (1/8)
The brown bear is one of the most iconic carnivores in the world, existing in most of the Northern Hemisphere. In Portugal, it has been extinct since the 1800’s, but there are still 2 relic populations in the Iberian Peninsula: the Pyrenees and the Cantabrian Mountains. (2/8)

#rstats tip: Working with spatial data from online sources? Downloading and unzipping? The fantastic /vsizip and /vsicurl-handlers from gdal allow you to read and query archives without unzipping. Both work directly in sf and stars. #rspatial 1/3
Particularly useful if you work with large zip-archives . I was able to read a single tif (86 MB) from an 18 GB-archive in less than a minute directly from web. 2/3
The underlying layers and files can be queried with SQL without unzipping. Here I grab the Norwegian coast contour from a 3.6 GB-dataset. 3/3

I am always nervous before each and every podcast interview.

Not because I am afraid of working/ learning in public but because want to be respectful of my guest's time and create content that will give the podcast audience value.

Here are the 10 most popular podcast episodes!
In this episode, @geomenke gives a fantastic introduction to #QGIS

So - #rspatial work in insurance! Other than natural perils (which I will talk about at some point) it’s also used to identify the features of individual dwellings that might impact their risk of things like burglary or malicious damage.
For example, I found every house in Australia that’s in a culdesac (Less people going through might reduce theft, but access for fire engines is harder and increases fire risk). Here’s a quick screenshot of visual checks I did using the package leaflet to make sure it was working
I really like doing this kind of stuff in R, because you have to think about things in a very different way than with most other types of analyses.
Coming back to my example, how would you even begin to find every dwelling that’s in a culdesac?
