🔹1948, Dr Farber treated 5 children with #leukemia with Aminopterin, an anti-folate & precursor of #MTX, with outstanding results
🔹1951, first positive results of Aminopterin in #RA & #Psoriasis pts
Despite this, Aminopterin was aborted in RA

Methotrexate is an important part of lupus care. We are aware of reports that some people are having difficulty accessing methotrexate in the wake of the Supreme Court’s ruling in the Dobbs case. 
The health of all people with lupus is of utmost importance to the Lupus Foundation of America. We are working with our Medical-Scientific Advisory Council to guide our efforts going forward so we can help ensure that people with lupus have access to the treatments they need.

2/ When you think about #treatment for any medical condition, it can be helpful to organize your thoughts into three broad categories: #medical, #surgical, and #expectant. We often forget about that last one! #MedTwitter #OBGynTwitter
3/ With #ectopic #pregnancy, #surgery is what you probably think of first. It's appropriate in three cases: 1) hemodynamically unstable patient; 2) a patient who desires surgery instead of medical therapy; 3) a patient has a contraindication to medical therapy.

I have psoriatic arthritis (on #methotrexate for about a decade) and had no hesitation to receive the vaccine @sloan_kettering. I am fortunate and was able to stop methotrexate for one month prior - this is atypical for most patients with autoimmune diseases - and will (2/n)
resume the medication a month after the second shot. I stress that this is not a medical recommendation for other patients with psoriatic arthritis or any other autoimmune disease. Patients should discuss how treatments for autoimmune conditions may impact vaccine immunity (3/n)
