My kid, underage in BC, was arrested twice (trial soon) for peaceful protest at #FairyCreek summer 2021, where #surgical #RCMP swat-style units would pull down protestor masks to pepper spray them directly in eyes 1/3
& would target Indigenous & Black protestors for removal. Their violence was called out by a BC judge. All to #defend old growth logging while protestors worked to protect climate & all of us by defending forests. But white nationalist organized 2/3
border #blockades & occupations see a few tickets issued. This is 🇨🇦 & we need to address our problems with policing, with white nationalism, & with values that put capital above & sanction violence over climate, Indigenous & Black lives. #canadaprotests

2/ When you think about #treatment for any medical condition, it can be helpful to organize your thoughts into three broad categories: #medical, #surgical, and #expectant. We often forget about that last one! #MedTwitter #OBGynTwitter
3/ With #ectopic #pregnancy, #surgery is what you probably think of first. It's appropriate in three cases: 1) hemodynamically unstable patient; 2) a patient who desires surgery instead of medical therapy; 3) a patient has a contraindication to medical therapy.
1). “Freedom is a road seldom traveled by the multitude”— Renaldo Williams started his #chieftalk this morning @VUMCSurgRes with this Frederick Douglass quote— and took us down several personal roads in an incredibly thoughtful and moving #grandrounds. Thread follows....
2). It was about roads— the many different types of roads that get us from one place to another— some unmarked, some treacherous, some worn, some patched. And he reflected on his road— from Holmes County #Mississippi where 45% live in poverty.
3). To successfully navigate any road, you need a map and a compass (value systems), rest stops (opportunities that open doors), and guides (mentors).
