at the AI hearing, I expect the usual amount of heated, panicky rhetoric plus suggestions for being more like Europe w something along the lines of an 'FDA for Artificial intelligence,' licensing for AI providers or NEPA for algorithms.

Neural Networks came back into limelight when Prof. Yan Lecun introduced a mathematical operation, called convolution, in one of the layers of a digit recognition model. For NNs, it just turned the world upside down
Most of the AI Applications that we see today are based on convolutional neural networks (CNN).
It's called a printer.
Despite the #ArtificalIntelligence hashtag, this machine is essentially a big printer with a computer using a "make this photo look painterly" filter. It's not making anything up.

It does use face detecting software to know what's the person and what's the background. I'm not sure if that counts as AI, and in any case, that's nothing unique to this robot.
