Itās appalling that the @MayorofSeattle can vilify my homeless students who struggle to find a place to sleep at night, but doesnāt have a mumbling word to say about the billionaires who are hoarding the wealth of Seattle & creating the homeless crisis.

I believe that housing is a human right and it is past time that our federal laws recognized it. My #housingforall platform includes designating the unhoused as a federally protected class and providing a monthly income to the unhoused and formerly incarcerated. (thread)
We have around 66,000 unhoused community members in LA County alone. Instead of leading with empathy and care, we continue to criminalize and traumatize them.
Five unhoused community members die PER DAY. Poverty should not be a crime and it should not be a death sentence.

As City Council votes to resume banishing and criminalizing Unhoused folks today, ~100 ppl living in Chinatownās El Pueblo SECZ are being traumatized by an unexpected sweep, with cops. Thereāre positive cases in the community here. Blood on your hands @JoeBuscaino
City sweep teams told us they were on pause due to multiple COVID-19 outbreaks at the mobile showers they drag out at during sweeps (so u can shower while the city trashes your shit). Attempts to reach @LAHomeless abt consistent, transparent messaging to residents go nowhere.
Thanks to the cityās inability to let houseless folks know with regularity when their constitutional rights are gonna be violated, we now have elderly disabled residents scrambling to save belongings in a move that normally takes hours if not the whole nite. #ServicesNotSweeps
