Popularly regarded as Canadaās first ānoise bandā, the Nihilist Spasm Band was established in London, Ontario in 1965.
Not dissimilar to From Remote Stars, the band was brought to fruition by Greg Curnoe; he co-founded the Nihilist Spasm Band to produce a soundtrack for his 1965 film, āNo Movieā.
Their unique sound comes from their handmade instruments and improvisation; the late band member Hugh McIntyre says that their music is loud and that their records āshould be played at [a] high volumeā.

Just finished a very intense 3 day @CFREF_APOGEE review of @Brains_CAN. So many positive and interesting discussions, and really good food for thought going forward. The present and future of #neuroscience @WesternU looks very bright to me.
The best part for me was seeing our @BrainsCAN @WesternU community engaging so enthusiastically in the process and really doing the business to show off the fantastic work going on here.
We have been working under extremely challenging conditions for over a year. We're all exhausted. Doing a review over webex is hard. But the brilliance and enthusiasm of our community shone through very clearly.
