This iconic photograph was taken during the memorial service for the victims of the French vessel, La Coubre. The ship exploded in the Havana harbour the day before, killing hundred people and injuring many others.

#CheGuevara was killed in Bolivia some 54 years ago today. #AhmadShahMassoud and Che were both formidable guerilla commanders. They had so much in common and yet so different in ideology. They both fought for what they believed was right and a just cause for their people.
They were from different backgrounds and cultures. One was fighting for communism, whilst the other against communism. Che was jaguar of the jungle whilst Massoud was the snow leopard of the mountains. Both were charasmatic and deeply respected for their abilities on the field
Had they met- there would have been no need for a translator. They would have understood each others language. The language of taking on a far superior force with limited resources, but the might of your people behind you. The language of #GuerrillaWarfare. Men of the field!

On #Che93, here's a short note I wrote as a foreword for a book with Che's writings, drawing on Eduardo Galeano to understand why he & the Cuban revolution continues to be admired nearly a century later. To this, in the following tweets, I'll add more from Galeano on #CheGuevara
Of Che's remarkable decision to leave Cuba to join Bolivia's revolutionary movement where he was killed, Galeano wrote: "this is the unique case of a man abandoning a revolution already made by him and a handful of comrades, to throw himself into the launching of another." #Che93

The fault lies in following a one-size-fits all approach of our education.
We have given vocational education a miss. We give the same dose (syllabus) of education to all and sundry.

The lad from the village is given the same does as the kid from a city. Our education system is deeply flawed. So deep that it creates youth with the same skill set.
About 75% of all those passing the +2 exam do a graduation course in commerce.
