I have a friend in #CapeTown who has all the symptoms of #LongCovid. She's had the acute illness three times in spite of precautions. She phoned to make an appointment with Dr. Jaco Laubscher, then found out how much he charges. Can anyone from #teamclots recommend other doctors?
Or if you don't want to stick your neck out to make a recommendation, do you know other doctors in Cape Town or the Boland who at least claim to treat microclots and systemic conditions in #LongCovid? My own doctor knows some stuff, but doesn't wear a mask, so I don't trust him.
She is going to have the blood tests recommended by Dr. Laubscher, though.

#SOUTHAFRICA #CAPETOWN #CORONAVIRUS

South Africa reports a new variant of the corona virus, which is likely to be responsible for a second wave of infections in the country.
Health Minister Zweli Mkhize said on Twitter that his country's geneticists had isolated the strand known as "501.V2". The available data strongly suggested that “the current second wave is being driven by this new variant”.
Mkhize warned against speculation that there was no reason to change the recommendations for protective measures. According to WHO expert Maria Van Kerkhove, the World Health Organization is in contact with the researchers.

🦈WHALE SHARK🦈
#Whalesharks are the largest fish in the sea, reaching almost 19m! They are one of only three filter-feeding shark species, the others being the megamouth shark and basking shark. They use gill filters to catch plankton, jellies and small fish. #Sharktober
We usually think of filter-feeding as happening automatically as the animal swims with its mouth open, but whale sharks are actually very active hunters. They use active suction to catch small animals near the water's surface. #Sharktober #whaleshark
#Whalesharks typically prefer tropical and temperate open oceans, but their slow migrations often bring them near shore to feed. These aggregation sites, including #SouthAfrica's southern coast, often benefit greatly from #ecotourism as a result of these beautiful visitors.

After about six months of blocking its airspace to regular international air traffic, South Africa will gradually open again to travel from abroad this Thursday.
However, tourists from countries that are considered to be high-risk areas are still excluded. On a list announced by the government on Wednesday, Switzerland, the USA, Russia and Great Britain were named, but Germany was not.
However, entry is still subject to certain conditions, including a negative corona test and travel insurance

During one of the world's strictest corona restrictions, around 2.2 million people lost their jobs in South Africa.
The official unemployment rate for this period fell in the second quarter compared to the previous quarter from 30.1 to 23.3 percent, the statistics agency Stats SA announced on Tuesday.
The reason lies in the definition of the quota: It refers to people who are actively looking for a job - which was temporarily impossible.

In view of the falling number of infections, South Africa is loosening its corona restrictions. In a speech to the nation on Wednesday evening, President Cyril Ramaphosa said restrictions would be lowered to the lowest level on Monday.
Although the virus continues to rage, the worst is over. "We are ready to open our gates to the world again." For this purpose, the airspace is to be reopened for international flights from October 1, after almost six months of closure.
However, the easing is still tied to certain restrictions - such as freedom of assembly or for air travelers. Negative corona tests immediately before departure are part of this. The night curfew is shortened to the time between midnight and four in the morning.
