Imagine if you would a US politician coming out and saying, "No mercy for X population"! The internet would melt down, there would be boycotts, investigations, demands for resignations, marches... twitter bans...
Anyone think that will happen here? Of course not. Twitter can ban Trump but not Russian, Chinese or Iranian politicians and diplomats. The only recourse Ukraine will have is too soundly beat Russia and liberate her territory and people. That requires people like us dedicated to

3/6 As🐢numbers increased all across #Texas bays, so did the interest of the local community in sea turtles and their conservation. In 2020, we launched @iseaturtle as a platform to encourage and involve citizens to contribute to #seaturtle science

2/7 The green turtle grazing strategy, with long-term cultivation of meadows (see photo) and high foraging site fidelity, is distinct from other terrestrial and aquatic mega-herbivores, and may affect seagrass compensatory (i.e. stimulated) growth responses.
3/7 In a Caribbean seagrass ecosystem, we identify a mechanism for compensatory growth responses to grazing by evaluating relationships between T. testudinum morphology and growth, in situ grazing intensity, and canopy light dynamics in grazed and ungrazed areas.

2/7 We deployed multi-sensor recorders (accelerometer, gyroscope and time-depth recorder) combined with animal-borne video-recorder to validate the signal on immature green turtles in Martinique.
3/7 From labelled signals, we trained a #deeplearning algorithm, #Vnet, to automatically identify green turtle #behavior.
🚩High ability to detect behaviors with low discriminative signals such as Feeding and Scratching, and precision down to one centi-second. #rblt

After 1 003 days, 40 011km, 23 509 transmissions, 2 oceans, 4 countries and millions of fans - #Yoshi's satellite tag has finally stopped transmitting. The greatest turtle of all time is at last, truly, on her own! 🐢 aquarium.co.za/blog/entry/yos… #farewellyoshi
This is not the end of #Yoshi's journey by any means! With 60 years of life ahead of her, and the possibility of breeding on the fertile and protected coast of #WesternAustralia, we're expecting plenty of baby Yoshi's in the future! aquarium.co.za/blog/entry/yos…
