@CentretownCCA board voted to sign on #StartsWithHome campaign lead by @OttawaAlliance mid February. We voted May 2022 to continue as a member of @OttawaCBN after signing on as a founding member of LeBreton Flats Community Benefits Coalition #cba4lebreton in 2019.

This project was initiated by @ottawacity under #Federal Gov't #RapidHousingInititiave Major City Stream admin by @CMHC_ca. The 28 units is part of 109 units under 4 projects for $31.9M allocated to #Ottawa to help the Jan 2020 declared #homeless and #housing #emergency. 3/

Lawmakers have a historic opportunity to fulfill the promise of #Olmstead to ensure that people with disabilities can live in the community with the supports they need to stay out of institutions.
[1/2] Today we received trove of NYC #supportivehousing interview outcome data. Here's one that stands out: "Rejected. Client presented as resistant during the interview process. Client did not engage interviewer appropriately." What does "appropriately" mean? Who judges it?
[2/2] The provider does. Is this #racialized, is it #gendered? Is this a valid reason to #gatekeep housing from a homeless person w/ mental illness in need? Social workers should not get discretion to gatekeep a basic human need w/ no accountability. Yet, here we are.
[+1] Here's another reason a homeless person struggling with mental illness was rejected from supportive housing: "Applicant was evicted from previous rental property." @NYCCouncil needs to move forward with legislation to stop this kind of gatekeeping.
Over the last week, @latimes has been releasing findings from a poll of issues that likely voters in L.A. are thinking about.
The big takeaway? 95% of voters identify homelessness as the No. 1 problem in L.A. County.
This is not surprising. Everyone is frustrated.

From our perspective, the fact that homelessness continues to be the focus of just about everyone in L.A. County is a good thing.
For many decades it was not and that, in part, is what got us into today’s crisis.

The main finding in the poll we want to discuss is this:
A majority of voters say funds raised by Measure H and Prop. HHH have been spent “ineffectively.”
This is not a surprise.
But it’s worth digging into.
