Wow, Oz! You sent me off on wild-goose chase😄! A good one, mind you (albeit, it paused me in my other research, I had started)!
This podcast brings extra, important details/truths on 9-11, I wasn't aware of, and I've gathered pieces to add!
The 1 being interviewed is Kirk Wiebe!
I didn't know abt Wiebe, nor him being both a friend of as well as fellow whistleblower to @Bill_Binney!
Here Wiebe is in 2014 interview, explaining abt insider culture of gov.-intelligence agencies+THINTHREAD
The other being interviewed is FBI-whistleblower Mark Rossini, who brings forward more interesting points abt 9-11 as well, underlining marker of Bush family close relation to House of Saud, procrastinating 'search for bin Laden' STRONGLY.

From @Naureenksingh, USAF. #sisterhood #womenvets "In 1979, a young man who had recently immigrated to the USA started an application to join the U.S. Army with his turban and beard. He believed his application would be rejected. Somehow, the cards lined up and he was

offered to join the Army as an officer,
with his turban and beard intact. He thought of it as a good experience for a few years, and had every intention of leaving soon after. But when the U.S. Army changed it’s dress and appearance standards in the 1980s, 2/6
now forbidding turbans and beards, he realized he had even more reason to stay. He had to stay and fight those standards and continue to show he loved this country just as much as the soldier next to him.

Not many people know of his story, but this young man, 3/6

The past 6 months have felt like 6 long, heavy years. I hope the rest of the year is brighter, but I'm grateful for the 6 lessons I've learned in the first 6 months of 2020. (Issa thread 👇🏾)

1. Hiding (from) trauma is not enough to heal it.

I thought I'd performed my way out of the pain #Racism had inflicted on me while I was living in France, but the way I've been triggered in the past months...

#ThursdayThoughts #2020lessons
2. Sisterhood is everything. Nurture it and understand that it is about giving as much as it is about receiving.

3. It was never about finding my voice. It's all about having the courage to use it.

Happy Friday! We hope your day is going great. Following up on last week's #thread on Combating GBV during #COVID19. This week as part of #SexualAssaultAwarenessmonth our #thread touches on the rise of other #harmfulpractices against women during #COVID19 due to the lockdown.
This is a continuation of the conversations we have been having on how the #globalpandemic #covid19 is affecting the lives of girls and young women.
These conversations aim to ensure that we engage a #genderlens response mechanism during global pandemics ensuring the most vulnerable amongst us are not left out in the cold.

“Disinformation, emotional manipulation and outright deceit.” Conservative forces will do anything to deny women their sexual & reproductive rights. Exhibit I-lost-count: @openDemocracy's investigation in #Uganda. Chilling.

In #SouthAfrica too, healthcare providers are denying pregnant women - many of them as a result of rape - access to the safe abortion they need, request and are legally entitled to. @drtlaleng has had enough. Read her op-ed:

I've hardly read anything this week - this photo 👇🏾pretty much sums up my week. But I thought about what @Lusukalanga would do to me if I skipped my weekly #EyalaReads thread & decided I like being alive. So here are my #SundayRead suggestions on #WomensRights #Africa #feminism Image
My favorite: @SidrahMay wrote about being a visibly Muslim woman in Canada as a "stereotype-busting-Muslim-girl PR job" she's taken on since childhood. The exhaustion she so beautifully describes feels familiar. In @thismagazine

FiLiA will release a full response later ...

The @Commonswomequ just published a report on 'Enforcing the Equality Act: the law and the role of the Equality and Human Rights Commission'

Chapter 7 is dedicated to Balancing Rights in Single Sex Services

parliament.uk/business/commi…
The report highlights 2 particularly difficult areas:

1️⃣ commissioning single-sex services
2️⃣ the ability of organisations to use Equality Act exceptions

Single Sex Exemptions are re-outlined, with a quote from the @EHRC Codes of Practice

Ch 7: bit.ly/32W1Yax
1️⃣ Of concern: '... commissioners appeared to be commissioning gender-neutral services in breach of the public sector equality duty' and “that will not enable the aims of equality set out in the Equality Act to be full achieved.”

My favorite: @FunmiB's spot-on piece about accountability between woke #feminist circles, and what it means for how we define #sisterhood. Published in the ever so excellent @AfriFeminists blog.

"Who does your humility serve?" Loved @TheJamaJack's glorious celebration of her own dopeness! But her insights on why many women shy away from embracing their greatness felt like a deep cut. A reminder for me to fight my impostor's syndrome.
