A family that was starving and had only macaroni for four days was supported in Jalalabad. This family has more than 16 members. Yes, four young men in the family between 18-30, but no work. Almost 90% families are struggling with food, and winter items.

Three more families receiving food and another a wood package. The package in first photo went to a family that borrowed flour from the vendor that provides packages to us in Nangarhar. I was standing there when he got the flour. Registered him, and gave him a full package.

2/5 I didn’t want to go inside their house, but her grandma told her that he may not like to drink tea offered by an impoverished family. Then I spent 15 minutes with the orphans. They were so happy. On my way out, I asked Ayat to go with me till the street. #Afghanistan

Today I was driving in the NE in and around the neighbourhoods when I was about to turn around and head home when I saw someone flag me down.

I pulled over, put my flashers on. I got out to grab them some water and snacks and saw the older gentleman limping & in obvious pain.
When I say hobbling I mean every few steps he stopped to catch his breath because he was in so much pain.
That’s when I said I’d come to them.

I grabbed some bottles of water, snacks, some backpacks, and asked them if they needed anything else.
He told me his bandages had dried to his skin and that he was refused care at a place here in Calgary when he asked for a dressing change.

My team went to Tango Camp, a village where more than 400 families live. 50 families (15 widows & 35 ultra-poor families) were identified. The team will continue identifying more families for the food drive and will be added to this #Thread

Once we hit the 7K mark, my team in Kunar & I will visit Sarkano, Shigal n Shultan districts to identify vulnerable families to famine and humanitarian crisis. I do have a list of 30 families from these three districts which includes widows & families without a male caretaker.

2) Note: Tonight evening I went to a store to buy milk for my kid. I saw a little girl (prbbly 10 years old) asking the staff to give her sugar for ten Afs (0.10$). He give him very little. I asked the girl, why only sugar. She added “I gathered bread all the day, and with this
3) sugar, we will make tea, and have our dinner”. I asked her address, and she was afraid. I didn’t have enough money atm, but I did buy her green tea, sugar, and little beans. I couldn’t take her photo in the store as it could attract attention towards me. I couldn’t follow her
This is hard to write but it is true for many. What I’m about to say is a harsh reality of what people go through.
What I am about to say is also the reason why a lot of people don’t ask for help.
People do not ask for help because of the fears and stigmas that exist.

This evening at 4:45pm we got a call from a social worker that works with seniors. She called us in a frenzy asking us for immediate help.
She told us of an emergency so extreme that her voice shook with concern over one of her clients.

This is very hard for us to write. But we feel we have no other choice due to us seeing the massive amount of requests that we are getting daily for both Humans and Pets.
Here is what has happened as of late:
This is very hard for us to write. But we feel we have no other choice due to us seeing the massive amount of requests that we are getting daily for both Humans and Pets.

This past weekend alone, we had over 30 emergency requests from individuals & families fleeing domestic violence. Many leaving with nothing but the clothes on their backs.
We were able to help about 17 of these individuals find shelter and lodging via referrals to other groups.

The other 13 individuals are being helped by our awesome volunteers. We are tracking down emergency funding and helping them apply for help through various organizations here in #Calgary.
We will be assisting them and their families in hopes of helping them feel safe once again.

Over this Autumn half term, @BucksCouncil’s #HelpingHand scheme is on offer to ensure children in Bucks do not go hungry.

We have yet another family that is struggling so much both financially and with putting food on the table that they can’t even afford to buy sanitary pads for their children.

A.) Not gotten their AISH payment.
B.) Got their AISH payment but it wasn’t the full amount.
C.) Didn’t get their AISH payment and have been frantically trying to call the support line to talk to anyone or get ahold of their worker...only to not get a call back.

We are working as fast as we can to sort everyone who had asked us for help into our respective categories, and if we have permission from anyone to share a story about their situation we will. But until then all we can say is this:
We have a new family just arrived to #YYC before #Covid_19 hit #Calgary that needs @HarvestHillsYYC and @Hell_Berta’S help. He is a father of four that needs help paying rent or he will face eviction Aug 1st.
His rent is $1300.00 with everything included. He has been laid off from his job only to be told that he is not able to return due to his place of employment going under.
I will match each and every donation. I’d like to raise enough money to pay his rent for two months. That should give him enough time to find gainful employment.
