At 16yo I was a senior in high school & sophomore in college, simultaneously.
At 18, w/ a double major & a minor within 2 semesters of #graduation, I quit college. I knew it wasnāt for me.
Do I regret it?

1st A bit about happened next:
I joined the #army to follow in my dad & grandpas footsteps.
Was seriously injured in the 1st half of training yet kept pushing. I made it through but needed extensive surgery & physical rehab & still have #Pain.
I came home feeling I failed.

Once I was home & healing, I turned the page.
I spent next years climbing a corporate ladder, making over $100k/yr at 20.
And I HATED every second of it!
I happily accepted a promotion to āhead cook & chief bottle-washerā. I was married & raising a healthy baby girl.

2/ At the height of a #CostOfLivingCrisis, LSHTM tried to victimise its workers, taking disciplinary action against 6 workers for union activities! But they remain united in their demand for fair pay, having voted UNANIMOUSLY to strike! #SummerOfStrikes
3/ This majority-migrant & BAME workforce is paid the lowest grade at the University, despite others with similar responsibilities being paid higher! With inflation set to hit 14% for the UKās poorest households, our workers cannot support their families on these poverty wages!

You know about those stories that pop up in the news? The ones about how some disadvantaged soul goes through inordinate struggles to do every day activities, and receives the golden ticket to make their lives better?
Like this one, who gets a car from their boss for walking twenty miles to work,
(1/11) When I say..."The people closest to the pain, should be the closest to the power, driving & informing the policymaking..." THIS is what I mean. (A) When I wanted to break cycles of #poverty by strengthening pathways to #graduation, preventing #dropout #MA7
(2/11) for expectant & #parenting #teens, (still the #1 reason girls drop out, even with unplanned pregnancies on the decline) I invited them to the table to share their stories, struggles & to inform the #BPS policy we developed to better support them.
(3/11) (B) When I wanted to better understand why we were seeing an increase in #bicyclist & motor vehicle collisions, I contacted @bostonbikeunion I invited them to share their stories & struggles, 4 hrgs later, we had a crash data report & the 1st sideguard ord. in the country
