There has been a lot of talk of preparing new school starters over the last few weeks and lots of discussions about how to help them with big feelings as they settle in, but one huge missing part of the conversation is talking about how the *parents* feel.
Your child starting school is a huge deal for you too, but there’s far less advice to help you with your feelings.

Today was my son’s #FirstDayOfSchool Instead of the public school down the street I drove him 40 minutes to a private school for children with disabilities. With a ratio of 30:2 (30 four year olds!) with NO supports public education is out of the question. #CutsHurtKids
The past week has been hard. On Thursday I spoke with the public school and told them that no, my son would not be attending the school with the rest of his community. Today I drove in the opposite direction of the children that would have been in my sons class
I do not feel he could be safely supported with only 2 adults for the entire class. He has ASD, PICA, is non-verbal, is not toilet trained and a flight risk. There are two other high needs kids in his class, 27 other NT kids and no EA. #CutsHurtKids

During worksite raids w/ 25+ workers, ICE agents are expected to identify & consider for release people who: are sole caregivers of children; have serious medical conditions; are pregnant or nursing; or are caretakers of disabled or seriously ill relatives. #ICEraids (2/10)
ICE is also expected to coordinate w/ state or local social service agencies to help identify people who qualify for humanitarian release. At minimum, ICE is supposed to notify the heads of state social service agencies that a worksite action is imminent. #ICEraids (3/10)
