For over a decade my brother in law helped disabled and elderly fans by taking orders before collecting food and drink for them to have at half time.

During last season this was abruptly stopped, despite it costing the club nothing - they were volunteers...
..not only has the club decided not to continue this service but now he has been informed he has to join the waiting list to purchase a Season Ticket.

This is incredibly poor. The lad has additional needs and has given up time to help the fans and club for an incredibly long...
...time just for them to drop him at a whim.

It's quite telling of where the club is currently and despite the nonsense constantly spouted about being the Original Family Club the reality couldn't be further from this currently.

Please share Hornets fans. The Pozzo reality.

Sacking Rob Edwards wasn’t the real issue. Creating an environment and culture in which it was impossible for him (and those that came before and after him) to succeed, was. #WatfordFC
We’ll never know what will have happened if Rob had stayed on, but he’d have faced the same enormous issues that Bilic and Wilder (and Hodgson, and Ranieri etc) faced. A disparate, disinterested squad and a tumultuous working environment. #WatfordFC
RE’s subsequent success should bring into focus the fact that unless there is significant change, any (unlikely) success will happen despite the way #WatfordFC is run, not because of it. Sacking RE wasn’t the problem. Creating a situation in which any HC is destined to fail, is.

Remember Game Of Thrones? It was that cool HBO show everyone loved to talk about a few years back. You know, before a final season so bad that the world decided that it was best never to mention it ever again. #GOT7FOREVER #GameOfThrones #watfordfc

A thread about the tangled web between #watfordfc and Mogi Bayat...

Mogi is a nickname, his real name is Arnaud Bayat. An Arnaud Bayat is the sole director and person of significant control (basically owner) of MB Foot UK Ltd (presumably Mogi Bayat Foot UK Ltd).
MB Foot UK had other companies involved when it was incorporated in the UK in 2019, namely Galzar Consulting and Cordis Holdings Ltd. Both of these companies were listed as persons of significant control of MB Foot UK for a few months before this was passed to Bayat.
Lorenzo Gallucci is a director of both Galzar Consulting and Cordis Holdings. Name ring a bell at all?

Against the backdrop of transfer uncertainty, I think #watfordfc and Rob Edwards have had an admirable start. A big step up for Rob, with the challenge made harder by not knowing how the squad will look come September. Tricky times.
The better team at St Andrew’s but a point a decent result after going behind. Clicking up front a big issue, haven’t created a huge amount so far, with creativity from MF a problem that needs to be solved. #watfordfc
#WatfordFC also in need of left footed defensive options. The team just feels lacking in balance, feels like we’re winging it a bit at the moment. With that said, to be unbeaten after a tricky start, and without really clicking into gear, is cause for optimism.

#WatfordFC 2020/21 financial results covered a season when they finished 2nd in the Championship, securing immediate promotion back to the Premier League. Head coach Vladimir Ivic was replaced by Xisco, since succeeded by Claudio Ranieri and Roy Hodgson. Some thoughts follow.
Despite impact of relegation and COVID, #WatfordFC pre-tax loss reduced from £36m to £22m, even though revenue fell £63m (52%) from £120m to £57m, as profit on player sales shot up from £18m to £56m and expenses were cut £35m (21%). Other income included £2.5m insurance claim. Image
Main driver of #WatfordFC revenue decrease was broadcasting, down £45m (48%) from £95m to £50m, as TV deal is much more lucrative in the Premier League, though also big falls in commercial, down £13m (76%) from £17m to £4m, and match day, down £5.7m (78%) to £1.6m. Image

Two schools of thought have emerged on Watford Twitter this season.

On one side the 'The hierarchy are awful' lot, on the other the 'You don't know how bad it used to be' brigade.

After another disappointing result, I'm still stuck in the middle.

Here's why...
Let's start with what brings us together.

Three little words.

Watford. Football. Club.

The Ann Swanson gesture, the murals, the Sensory room, supporting the NHS, many employees, the naming of the stands.

This shows that the hierarchy get the 'Watford' part and deliver on it.
Renovating the stadium, the infrastructure, the training facilities, keeping us financially safe and so on, suggest that they get 'Club' bit.

So that's two out of three that seem to be going fine.

Four Premier League clubs have now published their accounts for the 2020/21 season and it may surprise to many fans that two of them managed to increase their revenue in a season so badly impacted by the pandemic. This thread will explain the reasons, which are mainly technical.
West Ham reported significant (38%) revenue growth from £140m to £193m, while Chelsea also increased revenue by 7% from £407m to £435m. The other clubs saw relatively small revenue falls: Manchester United from £509m to £494m (3%) and Tottenham Hotspur from £392m to £360m (8%).
As almost all games were played behind closed doors without fans in 2020/21, match day income took a real pasting, with substantial reductions across the board: #THFC down from £95m to £2m, #MUFC from £90m to £7m, #CFC from £54m to £8m and #WHUFC from £23m to £1m.

#WatfordFC 2019/20 financial results covered a season that the club described as “unique and challenging”, as it ended in relegation after they finished 19th in the Premier League and they had 3 managers: Javi Gracia, Quique Sanchez Flores and Nigel Pearson. Some thoughts follow.
#WatfordFC swung from £10m pre-tax profit to £36m loss, as revenue decreased £28m (19%) from club record £148m to £120m and profit on player sales fell £4m to £18m, while expenses increased £9m (6%). Prior year boosted by £4.5m Marco Silva compensation. Loss after tax was £32m. Image
The main driver of #WatfordFC revenue reduction was broadcasting, which fell £24m (20%) from £119m to £95m, while match day dropped £2.0m (21%) to £7.3m, commercial decreased £1.2m (6%) to £17.4m and player loans were down £0.9m to £84k. Image

#WatfordFC are in the Championship trying to deal with a Premier League wage bill. During an unprecedented era that includes no gate receipts & an almost impossibly uncertain financial and economic situation. Striking a balance between success and stability has never been harder.
In terms of transfers, the club has to make affordable and attainable signings (two key words) in the hope that they can help achieve the goal of success (promotion) without risking future stability, so #watfordfc has a solid future, regardless of how this season pans out.
It wasn’t long ago that there was a real possibility of #watfordfc going bust. This pandemic will see countless clubs up against it in the fight for survival. Ensuring our club is one that comes out the other end is of paramount importance and can’t be understated.

I had a request to look at transfer spend in the Premier League, so I have analysed this over the last 5 years (up to 2018/19, the last season when all clubs have published their accounts). As a Christmas bonus, I have also included the EFL Championship.
In terms of the infamous net spend, the two Manchester clubs have spent most on transfers (#MCFC £639m and #MUFC £590m), followed by #CFC £440m. #AFC fans will be appalled to discover they have spent around the same (£329m) as champions #LFC £337m.
It is striking how low #THFC net spend was, only £63m in the 5 years up to 2018/19, though worth noting that they then splashed out £136m in 2019/20. Lowest spend unsurprisingly at clubs recently promoted from the Championship, i.e. #LUFC £4m and #SUFC £(13)m.

A THREAD! 👇 Ismaïla Sarr has been linked with a move away from Watford this window with Manchester United and Liverpool reportedly interested. Our coaches take a closer look at the attacker and analyse why he is more of a threat in a counter-attacking system 🐝 #WatfordFC
Sarr’s main threat is on the counter-attack because he can carry the ball at pace. That was useful for a team that spent long periods of 2019/20 out of possession, and often at their most dangerous on the break 🐝 #WatfordFC
At the moment of a transition, Sarr springs into life and his teammates know that if he has space to run into he will often beat a defender to the ball. Midfielders will therefore often play round-the-corner passes into the right channel for Sarr to chase 🐝 #WatfordFC Image

After the longest-ever Premier League season, the three clubs that ended up being relegated to the Championship turned out to be Bournemouth, Norwich City and Watford, but what will the impact be on their finances? #AFCB #NCFC #WatfordFC
Looking at the last reported numbers from 2018/19, it would appear that #AFCB have most to fear, because they had by far the largest operating loss (£30m) and highest wage bill (£111m). #WatfordFC operating loss was only £6m, while I estimate small profit for #NCFC (pre-COVID).
In 2018/19 #WatfordFC had the highest revenue of the relegated clubs with £148m, ahead of £136m for #NCFC (estimated, as played in Championship that season) and £131m for #AFCB. Revenue will be lower in 2019/20, due to smaller TV money (lower league place) and COVID-19 impact.

As the 2019/20 Premier League season finally comes to a close, I thought that it might be interesting to look at the impact of climbing or dropping places in the league table. There might be more for teams to play for than people might think.
As a reminder, in 2018/19 each club received equal shares for 50% of domestic TV £34m, overseas TV £43m and commercial income £5m. Each match broadcast live was worth £1.1m (on top of £12.2m for a minimum of 10 games), while each league position was worth £1.9m (merit payment).
However, the story has changed with the new 3-year deal for the 2019-22 cycle, as the numbers are different and there is a twist in the distribution methodology used for the overseas TV rights. This is important, as overseas is the area driving the growth in TV money.
