Good morning, @amy_jsolomons here ready for my #TwitterTakeover. My PhD with @LivUniHistory explores 18th c. female readers in @NT_Libraries. For the past 3 months I’ve been on a @britishlibrary PhD placement with @BL_MadeDigital. 
I have been working with @BL_MadeDigital to make more of the Library’s digitised content freely available online. I’ve also been promoting the Evanion collection via blogs and an online Exhibit.

My first week involved training on the digitisation workflow used in the Library. Projects go through conservation before being digitised. We then perform image quality checks, gather metadata and ingest the images for display in the @universalviewer in #IIIF.

Mastodon's revenue is not dependent on advertisers like other social media companies like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, Tiktok, etc. The ad-based revenue model isn't necessarily good in all cases as ads=tracking leads to the users -> product and advertisers -> customers

With free speech absolutism, he underestimates the consequences for our democracy and will clash with obligations under the EU's #DigitalServicesAct.

#ElonMusk will soon be confronted with the #DigitalServicesAct: content moderation in the EU must meet high standards & respect all fundamental rights. The #DSA contains many strict rules for the biggest platforms - and Twitter will very likely fall in the VLOPs category.
The #DigitalServicesAct means that Twitter has to invest in human content moderators, it has to comply with due diligence obligations, such as risk assessments of its service & algorithms for society. If he doesn't comply: there will be heavy fines!

So, the power to influence and create chaos rests with Twitter more than other social media giants despite its lower base. All the big-wigs of Indian government and industry are right here.

(1) #ElonMusk isn’t just buying #twitter, he’s buying every DM, private tweet, and bit of metadata it has, and I’m terrified what that means for society. As a private company loosely governed by a vague privacy policy, he’ll have free reign over unfathomable data. #twittersold
(2) People are rightfully fearful of what Musk’s acquisition means for content moderation and the return of abusive figures like Trump. But I’m just as worried about what he will do with this disturbing trove of our most intimate moments. #TwitterTakeover
(3) Tech CEOs long abused their access to our supposedly private information, part of what has driven so many of us to demand safeguards like end-to-end encryption. But Elon won’t only have more legal power to abuse access, he won’t care about the reputational costs if caught.

They don't complain when Soros+Omidyar control the narrative. The "establishment" includes academia, media, NGOs, "fact checkers" and many agents of thought control.
