A possible third wave of the coronavirus in India will likely be less severe than the devastating previous wave, according to the ICMR. This finding was backed by the Indian medical body and Imperial College of London's CHROMIC model. #ThirdWave

As per the model, states or districts that had witnessed a higher number of cases in the second wave (Delhi and Maharashtra), may see a decline now. The main reason cited for that is the immunity acquired by people from natural infections in the past wave and/or post-vaccination.
Dr. Samiran Panda, the head of ICMR's communicable diseases division said, "We have already reiterated that vaccines will not prevent infection, only mitigate the severity. Vaccination also prevents death. This in turn will help reduce the burden on the healthcare system."

Firstly, the 2nd and 3rd paragraph have just been copied and pasted from any government press release on vaccines. It gives a glimpse into the lack of actual “journalism” happening here. As a former journo myself, I can tell you that “word herder” is a far better description.
But of course the main lie here is the attempt to completely switch realities and discredit the only person in that discussion (@beverleyturner) who was actually speaking the truth. Not my truth, the unarguable, demonstrable truth.

I think the government is hoping to obscure scale of the issue in schools and gamble that hospitalisations are still low by 14th June, they will announce further loosening but keep masks in certain places so they can claim this is a sign of caution
Yet we still get voices in media claiming children are practically immune, that transmission is so low that UK schools don't need masks.

2. A huge difference is ICU capacity. In mid-December, we had around 276 patients with COVID in ICUs, and around 181 on ventilators.
Right now, that number is 355 and 205, the ICU workers are tired, and those numbers are just starting to rise.

3. How quickly cases rise is unpredictable. If we're lucky the rise will be more like 🇫🇷 than 🇮🇹 or 🇦🇹 but it is very clear that truly steep growth often occurs and (if you follow the international press) it always feels like it is taking you by surprise. It ain't.
