3. Another big scheme (launched in 2014) is #SwachhBharat Abhiyan. Most districts of Bihar had been declared Open defecation free 2 yrs ago. But ODF is common. Money was collected by officials (not netas) to make toilets but no one has checked if toilets were made and are used.

In the above photo, respected Dr Sekhar Krishnamurthy is standing before the train. He is from DRDO and what is he doing here. This is a perfect example of cross pollination of #competencies
His worked in the Defence Establishment to develop clean toilets for our forces at borders at thousands of Metres altitude. He also developed these toilets, now installed in all the trains 🚞 2.59 lakhs total

As we complete the 6th year of SBM-U on the 151st birth anniversary of #MahatmaGandhi, we reflected on activities that have made #SwachhBharat a Jan Andolan. Was delighted to participate in Inaugural Session chaired by Hon’bl MoS at National Webinar on #SwachhataKe6SaalBemisaal
We have travelled an exciting journey in achieving the #Swachhata parameters to pay a befitting tribute to Bapu, who during his life time, espoused wholeheartedly swachhata & never hesitated to pick up a broom to clean a dirty place or even a public toilet.
It is a great achievement in itself that every citizen of urban India has come together to make the dream of #SwachhBharat, envisioned by Hon’ble Prime Minister, a reality. Our streets, neighbourhoods, water bodies are cleaner; our cities & citizens healthier.
In the run up to woman's day, following the clarion call given by Hon PM Shri @narendramodi ji for women empowerment, I want to highlight a few women from my constituency who have inspired many people, including me to become better human beings.

Sewer deaths in India increased 66% to 83 between 2016 and 2019 (till Nov 6, 2019), accounting for a total of 282 deaths in 4 years, noted a Nov 20, 2019, govt reply in parliament. 2017 & 2019 reported the most deaths (83). Follow this thread for insights:

The most deaths in 2019 were in Gujarat, Haryana & Tamil Nadu (14). In the 4 yrs to 2019, the most deaths were in Tamil Nadu (40) followed by Haryana (31), Delhi & Gujarat (both 30)
India has 60,440 identified manual scavengers, with the highest in UP (35,472), followed by Maharashtra (7378) & Uttarakhand (6170)
Extremely pleased to inaugurate the first of its kind 'Swachhata Samadhan Kendra' today under the aegis of the ‘Carry Your Own Bag/Bottle’ campaign of @BMCBhopal.
Over the last 5 years, I have seen countless innovations in Swachhata space like used clothes/ papers/ Rexine/ flex banners being used to produce cloth/paper/flex bags and other day-to-day useful products.
Such steps take us towards realising the goals of Swachh Bharat Mission. Heartiest congratulations, Innovators and city of Bhopal!

Every little bit that contributes in making our environment greener & cleaner is a big leap we take towards making a #SwachhBharat. Discouraging the use or reuse of plastic in one such best practice we should adopt in our everyday lives.
I feel extremely delighted that these best practices have reached all corners of our country, even our beautiful island UTs. The Port Blair Municipal Council encourages the reuse of plastic PET bottles & plastic oil cans for plantation.
Such unique & creative practices have encouraged the municipal bodies to take a step forward in reducing & reusing PET bottle & can wastes. This has also brought about a behavioural change among the general public.

So now with #Artcle370Scrapped, the article 35A is moot and doesn’t stand.
There will be 2 new Union Territories -
Ladakh (with no legislature)
Jammu & Kashmir (with legislature)

#Ladakh has a very sparse population and hence will be an overkill to have a CM along with a Lieutenant General. It will be governed by the centre like Dadra Nagar, Daman Diu etc.
