Getting this out now before I forget or get too busy later. This was an 8 am class. Respect to the students who got up early to discuss #solarpunk before coffee really kicked in. We started with an attempt at an ice breaker: 
"Tell a believable fiction about yourself." The rest of the class would try to guess who said what. Would have been fun, except the students didn't know each other's names, even in a class of ten people. So spent the first couple of minutes introducing themselves to each other.
The point of the icebreaker, besides a little fun, was to explain that we all live with stories. Stories we tell about ourselves and others. By necessity, most of them our fictions. Some fictions are harmful, some are helpful, some are benign. But exist in a multitude.
Thinking of King Cape Gilette's (inventor of a safety razor system, co-founder of the Gilette company), and his strange and wondrous #solarpunk utopia (1894) where all of the US would live together in one huge city, with one publicly owned company, powered by Niagara falls
The plan of his utopian city, outlined in The Human Drift (1894) is extremely detailed. You can read it here.
Gilette was a gilded age businessman but he believed business competition was harmful for the people, and thought of a different idea.

The Radiant Citadel is solarpunk inspired city, a response to the grimdark we've seen in a lot of media, including other D&D cities. On the surface, it seems like a positive and relatively safe place to live.

Solarpunk is basically the polar opposite of cyberpunk. While cyberpunk is a hypercapitalist endtime dystopia, solarpunk an utopia often featuring anarchistic or communist elements.

Aber inhaltlich genau mein Ding. Diversität in vielerlei Hinsicht. Auch die Unterschiedlichen Auslegungen von Solarpunk kommen drin vor. Großartig! 👍

Die langweilige Antwort auf "Was daran ist Punk?" ist die Bedeutung des Punk-Begriffs im Rahmen der Genre:
Punk im Genre ist ein Genre, dass sich entgegen dem Mainstream von SFF wendet.
Cyberpunk war damals dystopischer, als SFF im Schnitt. Solarpunk ist utopischer.
