Two years before 9/11 the MTA installed an elaborate mosaic artwork throughout the #WTC subway station complex. It’s called Oculus and consists of 1 large mosaic of an all seeing eye as well as 300 smaller eye mosaics spread around the complex. #NineEleven
The large central piece consists of more than 1.8 million hand cut pieces depicting the all-seeing eye at the center of a flat map of the earth overlayed onto NYC. Although much of the work was flooded and damaged in the destruction of 9/11, most of it survived and is still there 
Maybe the creepiest thing about this is the fact that the 300 eye mosaics are based directly on photos the artists took of NYC schoolchildren. There’s a sick symbolism in forcing the eyes of innocence to witness one of the most horrific crimes in modern history #September11th

#September11 attacks changed course of my life like many other Americans, I’ve learned a lot, but in my work and travels in the 'War on Terror', online and in the real world, I’ve arrived at no hot takes, no definitive conclusions, no exact theories or absolutes.

You said you would never forget. But judging by your actions, you forgot. These men and women will recklessly abandon any version of self-preservation for the protection of their community. They are still the same men and women that stand in front of you today.
They are not perfect but I know they care. I know they’ll do anything to include giving their own lives to protect you. They will die excruciating deaths from the most torturous forms of cancer from running into chemical dust clouds of falling buildings.
They’ll run into a burning building only to have it collapse on top of their heads in an effort to save your life. They haven’t changed.... You have. They still love you and are at the other end of the phone anytime you are in need.

Heading back from visiting family in MN. Flipped on the news and thought it was a movie. When I looked out, I saw people in the parking lot talking quietly together with a sense of disbelief on their faces.

After showering, I went out and commiserated for a time. It was good to talk with other Americans and share the grief. This was when I began to listen to Rush Limbaugh on a regular basis. He was on the radio every day, as I drove across America.
