1879 ఫిబ్రవరి 13 న జన్మించారు. సరోజినీనాయుడు మంచి రచయిత్రి. ఆమె తల్లిదండ్రులిద్దరూ విద్యావంతులవడం వల్ల ఆమెకు బాల్యం నుంచే విద్యాపరమైన గట్టి పునాదులు ఏర్పడినాయి. సరోజినీ నాయుడు మాతృభాష బెంగాలీతో పాటు, ఆంగ్లభాష అనర్గళంగా మాట్లాడేది.
ఆంగ్లంలోనే మంచి సందేశాత్మక కవితలను చిన్నతనం నుంచే రాయడం ప్రారంభించారు. తన 13వ ఏట లేడీ ఆఫ్ లేక్ పేరుతో 1300 పంక్తులతో రచన చేసి సంచలనం సృష్టించింది. సరోజినీ రచనలను ప్రముఖ ఆంగ్లభాషా విమర్శకులు ఆర్థర్‌సైమన్స్, ఎడ్వర్ గూస్‌లు చదివి ఆమెను అభినందించారు.
