Um 8:15 Uhr bestieg ich wieder die #Bergensbanen. Sie war deutlich voller als bei der Hinfahrt, ich kam jedoch wieder in den Genuss eines reservierten Fensterplatzes. So bestaunte ich die herbstlichen Landschaft und hatte in den 7 Stunden genügend Zeit zum Lesen.
In Oslo angekommen musste ich drei Stunden auf meinen Anschlusszug warten. Nachdem ich gerne Postkarten schreibe, jedoch sehr wählerisch bin, habe ich die Zeit genutzt und am Handy selbst welche erstellt, ausdrucken lassen und geschrieben.

Heute ist ein besonderer Tag: Denn gemeinsam mit @unsereOEBB & @Siemens konnten wir die neue Generation der #Nightjet's vorstellen & zum ersten Mal von innen besichtigen. Ich bin überzeugt: So können noch mehr Menschen auf die #Bahn und den #Nachtzug umsteigen. (1/5)
Das besondere an den neuen #Nachtzügen: Höchstgeschwindigkeit von 230 km/h, WLAN an Bord, Fahrradabstellplätze, komplett neugestaltetes Interieur, mehr Privatsphäre durch geringere Belegung & fix montierte Betten für erhöhten Schlafkomfort. (2/5)

Heute geht es um das Innendesign der neuen Nightjets.
Wij gaan een stukje fietsen! Eerst met de #Nightjet naar Basel en dan langs de Rijn terug naar huis. Welkom bij #Rijnlangs!
Door de staking werd er een etappe 0 toegevoegd. De route langs de Ringvaart is bekend van het wielrennen, maar blijft leuk. De route door Amsterdam is interessant met een ligfiets.
De Tolhuistuin doet een prima terras met zicht op IJ, mijn nederige kantoor en onze bepakte vakantiefietsen. #Rijnlangs
I might have had a small opportunity to look into the @unsereOEBB future. Here are a few details of the test train by @SiemensMobility, which currenty consists of 4 new cars. A short thread.. 🧵
Car 1 of 4 is the cab car with the lovely Vectron-like front, which likely will be used as a seating car, as it just had seats in it, apart from the measuring equipment currently used in the second part.
Car 2 had some slightly more comfortable seats, but also some of those found in the cab car. The "AB" in the name of the wagon and the "multifunctional" label seems to be confirming this fact (maybe even used for bicycles, given the larger door)?
So @OceanKnigge asked me if I could help @OceanUnger get from Berlin to Lisbon for the UN Ocean conference there, and to arrive on 26 June - this challenge is called #TrainToUNOcean

First take the @unsereOebb #NightJet 471 Berlin-Zürich and get out in either Offenburg (for possibly safer connections) or Basel SBB (for more sleep - I'd go for that)

Then switch to @SNCFConnect and search Offenburg to Barcelona Sants, or Basel SBB to Barcelona Sants - these are the options

Goedenavond vanuit de Intercity naar Amsterdam. Het is tijd voor #50uurtrein! Tot dinsdagavond reis ik per trein door Nederland, Duitsland, Oostenrijk, Frankrijk en België.

This doesn't begin to cover all the complexity of how to get a night train to run, but it covers the main gist of it. And there are not probabilities on it, as there are loops in the diagram.
But seriously, this is what you would have to overcome to get more night trains on the tracks of Europe.
A nice photo opp, or some petition on Change(dot)org is not going to solve these inherent complexities for you. This needs hard work and maybe new law.

Don’t get me wrong - I’m happy @unsereOEBB is trying to run a night train #NightJet Wien-Brussels (with a part Innsbruck-München-Brussels)
ÖBB has also pulled off a coup by getting @lgewessler @KarimaDelli @AnnaDeparnay @MartinSelmayr on board the first trip

This Brussels train has a horrible timetable - it arrives at 1055 which is useless for a work day
It runs only twice a week
