@AvantiWestCoast How come that the pile of crap called Avanti West Coast is still allowed to operate train services I will never understand. I'm supposed to be on my way to Wolverhampton. So far I got as far as Euston.
I've been here for a while now; and train after train after train from Avanti is being cancelled! Due to staff shortages. Why don't they just hire more staff?! (No, it's not a train strike day).
And I'm not allowed to catch the next Birmingham train as it's operated by North Western Service. How come North West Rail is able to staff their trains and Avanti are not?! The information board very helpfully says "ask staff" - WHAT STAFF?!

حکومت پاکستان نے 58.2 ارب روپے کی لاگت سے تھر کول اور پورٹ قاسم کو پاکستان ریلوے نیٹ ورک سے منسلک کرنے کے منصوبے کا اعلان کیا ہے۔ پراجیکٹ، جس کا مقصد ایک قابل بھروسہ اور موثر ریلوے انفراسٹرکچر فراہم کرنا ہے 🚂، ایک 105 کلومیٹر کا ٹریک بنانا شامل ہے، جس میں 24.58 کلومیٹر لوپ لائن

The Madras and Southern Mahratta Railway (MSM) was formed in 1908 from the merger of the Madras Railway Company (MR) which operated a broad gauge (BG) system and the Southern Mahratta Railway(SMR) metre gauge (MG) system.
In 1943, MSM operated 1518 miles of Broad gauge track and 2087 miles of Metre gauge track across southern India.
Madras Railway Company (MR) was incorporated in 1845 for the purposes of building a 70 mile line between Madras and the military base at Arcot. In 1859, its mandate was expanded to Beypore, with branches to Bangalore, and via Bellary, to join the line from Bombay.
The North-Western State Railway (NWR) was formed in 1886 by merging the Sind, Punjab and Delhi Railway, the Indus Valley State Railway, the Punjab Northern State Railway, the eastern section of the Sind-Sagar Railway and the southern section of the Sind-Pishin State Railway.
The NWR operated a board gauge network on the following mainlines Karachi to Quetta, Karachi to Lahore, Lahore to Delhi and Lahore to Peshawar. By 1947, it operated 6861 miles of track.
The oldest section of track in the system was opened between Karachi City and Kotri in 1861 by the Scinde Railway. The terminus became the Karachi Cantt Station.
Between 1925 and 1960 all electrified #railway tracks in #India operated on a Direct Current system. The last sections of 1.5 kV DC from Mumbai to Panvel and Thane to Vashi, were upgraded to 25 kV AC in April 2016. Here is a look at the now extinct DC locomotives of India.
WCP-1/2 ordered by GIPR to a Swiss Locomotive & Machine Works design for operations over the Western Ghats in 1928. 22 Vickers built locos entered service in 1930 and served into the mid-1980s. With a top speed of 137 km/h, the locos offered 15,295 kgf of tractive power.
WCP-3/4 were two locomotives ordered to General Electric Company and Brown, Boveri & Cie. designs for evaluation purposes in 1928. Built by R&W Hawthorn, Leslie & Co. both offered lower tractive effort and speed than the WCP-1 (EA-1). They operated into the late 1960s.
The Bengal Nagpur Railway operated several classes of steam locomotives until its demise, including India's largest: BNR Class N "Beyer Garratt" type 4-8-0+0-8-4 steam locomotive Nr. 814 (built by Beyer Peacock Locomotive Works, Manchester-Gorton)

Prime Minister @narendramodi , on January 16, shared pictures of the Jan Shatabdi Express that will run between Ahmedabad and Kevadia. The train will be flagged-off along with a few other trains today through video conferencing.
@narendramodi Modi took on twitter to share a few glimpses of the train. "One of the trains being flagged-off tomorrow is the Jan Shatabdi Express between Ahmedabad and Kevadia. This train will have Vistadome coaches. Sharing some glimpses," read PM’s tweet.
@narendramodi In pictures, Vistadome coaches have a bigger viewing area and mostly transparent roof. These trains will connect the Statue of Unity with different locations and enable visitors to reach Kevadia easily.
