Many academic institutions are kinda confused when it comes to launching new degrees such as #FinTechs, Data Sciences, Business #Analytics, Machine Learning, Ai, etc.
There does not seem to be a standardized curriculum for such programs as we see in other academic disciplines.
Just combining courses from Maths, Statistics and Computer Sciences Faculty will not give you a Data Science Degree Program.
That is the mistake that universities're making at the moment.
Highly Amateurish.
The same mistake was made when business schools Physics,& Engineering Departments came together to launch applied Mathematical Degrees such as FE- Financial Engineering, etc.
#Quant #Finance was probably the most sought-after degree before the #GFC and later the lies got exposed

You are no longer secure after investing your or your parent's money in education
Because of these new trends of hiring and firing people under zero-hour contracts, agile working spaces setup during the #pandemic, working from remote location, and #AI/ML #robots replacing humans
And, if you are an Overseas Student, please don't get lured by the work permit, professional practise programs that offer industrial placement, and other visa extension nonsense, as we see in different jurisdictions.
There is no guarantee that you will find decent paid work
Already, a friend of mine, who is working as a registrar of programs at a Middle East-based university, is receiving tons of CVs a day, from respected university lecturers, and researchers from top western institutions.

Thrilled to participate in today’s @PMTC2021 conference and talk about meeting students where they are at (figuratively and literally). My research ranges from #bioarchaeology to #MedHist (bones to books) and I love bringing theatre to the classroom! #PandemicMethodologies Black and white photo of Dr. Frederick Banting sitting at a
My greatest insecurity preparing for teaching in Fall 2020 was how to create a sense of community in the classroom for a course that had never before been delivered online. Summer 2020 reading: #MOOCs! #CourseDesign! #Tech! #UniversalDesign! #Stress! #PandemicMethodologies
Reimagining “Intro to Anthro of Health” required boldness. I looked to @DanielPaulOD’s unessay (tinyurl.com/4b2uezvv): to throw out the rules of essay writing and welcome speculative work. This semester was the right one to take a risk. #PandemicMethodologies

We compared discussion posts on an open forum (edX), where learners can read responses of others before replying with posts on a locked forum (Coursera), where learners must respond to prompt before being able to view responses of others. #MOOCs @UMichiganAI
We found that posts on an open forum tended to be incomplete, more persuasive in tone, with some showing evidence of reflection. On a locked forum, posts tended to be complete, more assertive in tone, and exhibited a diversity of ideas through responses.
In open forums, learners may use posts to give a complementary perspective and not feel the need to repeat what others have said (thus not directly addressing prompt). Aware of others in the forum, learners use posts to share a reflection or persuade others of their POV.

Tuesday morning, at #JupyterPopup DC, I'll give a preview of "Flipped Learning with Jupyter," my joint #JupyterCon talk with @RobertTalbert jupyter-pop-up-dc.eventbrite.com
Two weeks later, I'll give a somewhat related talk at #OpenedX2018: "Jupyter-based courses in Open edX: authoring and grading with notebooks" sched.co/EUAl #Jupyter
