Daniel Morgan was born in Singapore on 3 November 1949

He worked as a salesman and travel guide, settling in Norwood, London, in his late 20s, married with a wife and two children.

In January 1977, Daniel decided to put his exceptional memory for details to use by setting up his own detective agency

On the night of his death, Daniel had a drink with his partner, Jonathan Rees, at the Golden Lion pub before heading to his BMW to return home.

He was found dead shortly after leaving the pub, slumped beside the car with an axe wound in the back of his head

Notes he had been seen writing earlier had been stolen from the torn trouser pockets of his suit

It was rumoured he was about to expose corruption at Scotland Yard ImageImage

Dick, House, Ephgrave, and Blair (top serving or former MPS officers) have had the brass neck to issue a naked denial to the conclusions of a report listing countless, evidenced examples of corrupt behaviour designed to protect the organisation.
In other words, they are repeating PRECISELY the same sin of which the #DanielMorgan Panel accuses their organisation in its report.
And what are we to make of this?
Are they serious people?
Or are they simply propagandists?

The panel accuses the MPS not of taking brown envelopes, (although this occurs) but of a specific type of behavioural and institutionalised corruption.

#DanielMorgan - a #forensic fibre expert's view - thread - the information I have used to review forensic fibre issues in this is based entirely on the report of the Daniel Morgan Independent Panel which can be found here danielmorganpanel.independent.gov.uk 1/
text taken directly from the report are quoted using "". The report is 1200+ pgs long and covers a wide range of issues, I will restrict my review to the examination of the key exhibits, namely the murder weapon, Daniel Morgan's clothes and any other exhibits 2/
recovered from suspects after the crime that may be relevant brief summary - "Daniel Morgan’s body was discovered by a customer who drove into the Golden Lion public house car park at about 9.40 pm on 10 March 1987 the customer who had discovered Daniel Morgan’s 3/

#DanielMorgan BREAKING: Met Police Asst. Commissioner Nick Ephgrave: "I don't accept the Met Police is institutional corrupt... It's a new term that's been coined… It's not a term people are familiar with. I don't see the evidence in front of me that supports that"

Staggering.
#DanielMorgan Asst. Commissioner Nick Ephgrave: "I've watched how the organisation has developed its ability to detect corruption in all its forms. That doesn't mean there isn't still a threat & we have to be very live to that"

Met has best anti-corruption command "in the world"
#DanielMorgan Panel: "The Metropolitan Police's lack of candour manifested itself in the hurdles placed in the path of the panel"

Asst. Commissioner: "We've done all we possibly can to provide all the information they asked for"

starting to work my way through #DanielMorgan report, will post as I go through but likely without comment at this stage. Remember some #forensic work dates back to 1987 and should be judged accordingly. /1

BREAK: Met Police accused of ‘institutional corruption’ in a devastating report by the Daniel Morgan Independent Panel
‘The Met Police placed its concern for its own reputation above the public interest when it concealed from the family of Daniel Morgan & from the wider public the failings in the 1st murder investigation & the role of corrupt officers....’ #DanielMorgan
‘The lack of candour displayed by the Met Police in relation to the investigation of the murder of Daniel Morgan over so many years constitutes a barrier to the proper accountability of the Met Police’

Urgent question by @RhonddaBryant on #DanielMorgan report delay.

Asks when it will be published and whether any pressure has been applied from Murdoch, Rebekah Brooks or News UK.

"Thanks to corruption in the police and inteference by News UK, the family has had no justice.
Victoria Atkins, Home Office Minister, says: it will be published when it receives it from the Panel. "One cannot block publication of a report if one has not yet received it" - says only caveat on redactions is national security/human rights considerations #DanielMorgan
Victoria Atkins doesn't answer @RhonddaBryant's question about whether Priti Patel/Home Office has had any formal or unofficial correspondence with Murdoch, Rebekah Brooks or News UK over the report; or whether meetings with them in past 12 months can be provided #DanielMorgan

Priti Patel has thrust herself into the formally *independent* business of the *independent* panel on the #DanielMorgan murder, demanding more time to read the report before MPs or the public see it and threatening to black out passages of text. 1/6
Bear in mind that this case is all about corruption. It is the most investigated unsolved murder in UK history because of corruption – corrupt police officers, corrupt journalists, and perhaps others. The panel report has been 8 years in the making. 2/6
That long gestation may itself owe something to corrupt interference with witnesses. We'll see. But we know this: after 34 years of being cheated, the Morgan family deserve from the British state a good, trustworthy report delivered by clean process. 3/6

Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, #Spycop

Day 7 of opening statements today, including on behalf of Baroneess (Doreen) Lawrence, Neville Lawrence, Michael Mansfield.

Due to be live streamed at link.

Ahead of start of evidence sessions from tomorrow.

ucpi.org.uk/hearing/openin…
We start by hearing a broadside delivered at both #spycops inquiry and the Met delivered by Baroness Lawrence via her barrister, Imran Khan.
Baroness Lawrence, mother, of course, of Stephen Lawrence, “is losing confidence, if she has not already lost it, in the inquiry’s ability to get to the truth,” says Imran Khan to #spycops inquiry.

We are hearing this am at undercover policing inquiry from Philippa Kaufman the truly mind-blowing story of state sexual abuse of 20 women whom she represents by #spycops, and how these women unearthed who their “boyfriends” really were and exposed them. ucpi.org.uk/hearing/openin…
Philippa Kaufman also represents a 21st woman who developed a friendship, albeit not a sexual relationship, with a #spycop.

You can see her giving her and others later today giving opening statements at this link: ucpi.org.uk/hearing/openin…
Note that Philippa Kaufman’s opening statement was only live streamed this morning because she undertook not to state #spycop Carlo Neri’s real name.

I have no idea why because his real name is already in public domain. This is eerily like #CSAinquiry attempt to erase history.
