2/ First, the most lethal thing on the battlefield remains a human. But, the most lethal and effective weapon system on the ground in #Ukraine is artillery. The decline in the amount & use of #artillery since the Cold War must be fixed in western armies.
3/ But, as recent studies (including some really excellent reports from @RUSI_org) have shown, the industrial base for weapon and munitions production has declined. This will need to be redressed quickly.

Let's begin with #Annelida. In the #Cambrian these come mainly from deposits of exceptional preservation. Polychaetes and sipunculids, including species with potential affinities to living families, are represented.

In a brief break between Victorian lockdowns in May, I was fortunate to be able to do fieldwork for my Honours project 🛣️🚗
As part of this field trip, I traveled to the beautiful lands of the Adnyamathanha, an area you may know as the Flinders Ranges and surrounds 🌄

My motivation to undertake fieldwork was to collect samples of rocks from the early #Cambrian period, over 500 million years ago!
