8 days ago at an event in Lagos, former UK Prime Minister @BorisJohnson made a strong case for the Peter Obi presidency during a lecture.

The media has been quiet about it, but I'm here to give you the full gist.

He said, "Britain once had issues with terrorism but today the Metropolitan Police is so impartial that they once arrested Prince Andrew, the son of the late Queen..."

@toluogunlesi I am ready to "reason" with you on this.
#APCandPDPSamePartyWithTwoOffices is not about the people in them. It is about how they act.
1) APC & PDP have competent candidates in their parties but they always choose the worst to give tickets to.
Tinubu & Atiku are egs
You will agree with me that Atiku and Tinubu are not the most competent in both PDP and APC but they emerged with the party tickets.
That's why we say #APCandPDPSamePartyWithTwoOffices
2)Both APC and PDP have shown and demonstrated it is all about how much money you have and not about your competence, character and capacity when it comes to clinching their ticket.

Remember the #BringBackOurGirls campaign Chief Oby Ezekwesili? A fierce critic of the Nigerian military (sometimes for good reasons) ALA Dasukigate.
HAAA !!

That was what came out of the mouth of Oby Ekwezeli when NAF fighter pilots showed her the staggering size and inhospitable terrain of the Sambisa forest.
After lambasting the Nigerian military on its failure to locate the Chibok girls in an "ordinary forest" (exact term she used) on CNN's Amanpour, the NAF invite to join in a short tour of the Sambisa forest to observe the search by the military for the missing schoolgirls.

Abubakar Shekau, the fundamentalist warlord who turned Boko Haram from an obscure sect into a jihadist army that killed 1000s across 4 nations is dead, according to officials, mediators & calls intercepted by a spy agency seen by @drewhinshaw & I.

Shekau's death-if confirmed-removes one the world’s most brutal, effective and little-understood terrorist leaders: a contemporary of Bin Laden, Baghdadi and Zarqawi, who outlived them all.

The insurgency's cackling face for 12 yrs, his death has big consequences for the region.
Globally, he was best known for the 2014 kidnapping of the 276 schoolgirls that sparked the global #BringBackOurGirls campaign.

His death has been erroneously reported several times before and there has been no official confirmation from Nigeria’s govt, Boko Haram Islamic State.

In 2014, 276 school girls were kidnapped in Nigeria by the terrorist group Boko Haram the night before their finals.

A lawyer with less than 100 followers tweeted about it with the hashtag #BringBackOurGirls, and a movement began:
wired.com/story/bring-ba… 1/
From there it exploded, with celebrities ranging from Alyssa Milano and Mary J. Blige to Hillary Clinton and Common leveraging large followings to call attention to the issue.

All the way until it landed on President Barack Obama’s desk. 2/
The online critical mass forced the White House staff to debate deploying more than $250 million in sophisticated military might to look for teenagers held by a group that had never attacked the US, on a mission essentially ordered up by Twitter. 3/

In 2017, @drewhinshaw & I entered a Nigerian cabinet minister’s office to ask why Boko Haram was ascendent. “Because we gave them millions of euros for the Chibok girls!” he said with a nervous chuckle

Since then we've tried to understand why it took three years to free the schoolgirls briefly championed by millions: @Pontifex, @KimKardashian, @TheRock all tweeted #BringBackOurGirls. Maybe you did, too?...

Twitter quickly moved on... But the real story had only just begun.
Those few days of tweets lit a fuse that burned for years, the forces of Silicon Valley reshaping a Nigerian war. Drones,FBI agents, mercenaries & glory hunters flew in to liberate a class of teenagers who'd become a prize in the 'war on terror'

None of them rescued a single girl

1. You shouldn’t agree with Aisha Yesufu on all topics, personally I don’t agree with her on personal reasons, “her involvement with the #BringBackOurGirls BBOG - Goodluck Jonathan Saga.” You can as well disagree with her on LGBTQ - Queer & all of that.
2. What isn’t right is dragging her in the mud to advance whatever grudge you have against her. Calling Aisha Yesufu a “Raggedy Bitch” was low in my opinion. Y’all have opened the floodgates for people on all divide to insult her & try to bring her reputation into disrepute.
3. Arewa moral police is dragging her, LGBTQ - Queer are dragging her also, even those who don’t even fully grasp the concept of LGBTQ - Queer rights are equally throwing jabs at her. Many of you are evening running wild, suggesting she’d be deplatformed. I won’t support that.

It's almost impossible to believe, but 6 years after the kidnap of 276 schoolgirls ignited the #BringBackOurGirls campaign, Nigeria is again reeling from a mass school abduction by Boko Haram, this time of what appears to be more than 300 boys. A thread: wsj.com/articles/boko-…
The students were seized from an all-boys boarding school in Katsina, northwest Nigeria and marched deep into a nearby forest. Details of the attack, in a remote region with patchy cell phone reception, remain murky, including the true tally of the missing.
Local officials say 333 of the school’s 800 students are missing and assumed captive. If confirmed, that would make it one of the largest mass kidnappings of schoolchildren in history—and bigger than the abduction in Chibok.

A Thread.

As a Believer, one of the greatest tests of my life is granting real forgiveness to all those who because of Politics twisted my deep agony and agitation for rescue of ChibokGirls into all forms of wicked accusations I have had to bear since 2014. And yet I must.
In this 2018 tweet, I was recounting how the @BBCAfrica handle broke the news of the abduction of ChibokGirls on the 15th and my immediate reaction was to ask them if the news was “verified”.
I mean, it was hard to imagine hundreds of schoolchildren being abducted. It was hard.
My follow-on tweet after asking @BBCAfrica if their breaking news on the abduction was verified is captured below. It sank in my mind that it was BBC News and that by the quality control standards, it was near impossible to break unverified news. Ah. My eyes rolled down tears.

Yes, 2020 has been a turbulent year but the menace associated with the Nigerian saga has nothing to do with the calendar year. Nigeria's present administration is a tale of insensitivity, wickedness and a high level of incompetence.
Six years ago, it was #BringBackOurGirls. The previous administration was castigated and labelled a failure. Till today, some of the abducted Chibok girls are nowhere to be found. The new hashtag is now #BringBackOurBoys.
Peaceful #EndSARS protests were disrupted by the #LekkiTollGateMassacre in October. Few days ago, over 40 farmers were beheaded in cold blood in a gruesome #ZabarmariMassacre and now, over 600 Kankara students are nowhere were kidnapped right under the nose of the president.

On this day 6 years ago, we woke up to 2 bomb blasts at a motor park/bus station in Nyanya. The strategic blasts occurred just before 7am when commuters were trying to make their way to their places of work. 100's died, 100's more were injured.

Boko Haram claimed responsibility.
Later that night, while Abuja + the rest of the country reeled from that attack, Boko Haram rolled into Chibok & abducted 276 school girls from their dorm; would have been more but some girls jumped off the trucks. Today is the 6th anniversary; over 100 girls are still missing.
I remember the first ever #BringBackOurGirls march like it was yesterday... Standing at Unity Fountain with @AbangMercy and co, and beginning the march led by @obyezeks. Then it started drizzling, and folks started turning back.

"Are you salt? Are you salt?" Madam Oby asked.

(The Times, 24/09/2012.)
(Radio Netherlands, 18/12/01.)

Best wishes for your birthday @ObyEzekwesili. I still recall that evening in June 1993 when you walked into my house in the Samaru campus of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria where I was teaching.

14 April is the 5th anniversary of the Chibok Kidnapping. When the barbaric incident occurred, the whole world expressed utter outrage and heartbreak, and promised to stand firmly with Nigeria until the girls are re-united with their families thanks to #BringBackOurGirls. 1/3
In the above address @MichelleObama said "In these girls, @BarackObama and I see our own daughters." Britain, Israel and China pledged drones, spy planes and advisers to find them. Five years on, we have simply moved on while 112 of the girls remain in the grip of #BokoHaram. 2/3
Where is the outrage, the media attention, the promises? Are they still a priority for @MBuhari? Would we forgot them in such a haste if they were our own daughters? We evidently need to bring back these girls and every person being kept by #BokoHaram back to the limelight. 3/3
