This Mendelian randomization study provides evidence that genetically predicted walking may reduced the risk of Alzheimer’s disease. 
- Genetically predicted higher levels of walking were found to decrease the risk of AD.
- Interestingly, the study failed to find any associations between genetically predicted overall activity, sedentary behavior, and moderate-intensity activity with AD.

I had a 4-week summer research position when I was in college. The project had something to do with Na/K channels in pulmonary epithelial cells.

Today is #purpleday. I was diagnosed with #epilepsy at the age of 28 after having simple partial seizures for years. I had tonic-clonic seizures -- what used to be called grand mal seizures -- in my sleep, and never knew.
This was diagnosed in a very classy way -- I woke up with a bruised forehead and a broken toilet seat. Things like stroke and brain cancer had to be eliminated. I had just moved to NYC and started writing for @CBSRadio. Bad timing.
There are more than 40 different types of seizures. They are very personal. They have different 'triggers'. Mine are triggered by exhaustion. I had to stop working overnights, and I avoid early mornings, which is difficult in a business that starts at 3am and goes all night.
@CDCgov 1) My Mom had #BeenSmokingCigarettes for 30 #Years when she had gotten #pneumonia 2x's during the Winter of 1989-1990. Her doctor told her if she didn't #QuitSMOKING , she would #VeryLikely get #pneumonia again. Then, he Highly recommended that she #GiveNicotinePatchesATry . She
@CDCgov 2) decided to try them; for #ThreeEntireMonths , as the amount of #Nicotine in the patches is reduced each month; even though they caused her to get a small amount of hives! 😃 By that time, she was down to #Smoking 1 or 2 #Cigarettes a day; instead of her usual #PackADay Habit!
