Todo comenzó en 1992, cuando la nueva Ley del Deporte obligó a los clubes de primera a reconvertirse en sociedades anónimas deportivas para profesionalizar y sanear la gestión del fútbol profesional. El Barça, Athletic, Real Madrid y Osasuna podían renunciar por no tener deuda ⬇️
No era el caso del #Atleti, que tenía una deuda con su presidente JESÚS GIL y más acreedores de 4.000 millones de pesetas. Si no la pagaba, el club no podría reconvertirse en SAD y bajaría a 2ªB. Para facilitarlo, GIL "perdonó" su deuda al club a cambió de... 🤯 ⬇️

#Atleti profit before tax improved from €1m to €5m (profit after tax up from €4m to €5m), as revenue rose €48m (21%) to a record high of €281m, though profit on player sales fell €7m to €37m. No repeat of the 15/16 €27m extraordinary charge linked to stadium development.
The main driver of the #Atleti revenue increase was the La Liga TV deal, up €31m to €99m, though Champions League TV money was €9m lower at €61m. Commercial rose €22m (41%) to €76m, while match day was €4m (11%) higher at €45m.
