some lofi girl protocol updates (and more on how he currently interacts with screens)

he’s 3 now, and he still thinks the phone is to call people

he’s really not captivated by screens — he’ll look for a minute or two, but he’s much more interested in physical play — he likes to look at photos of family and friends
— he loves to send voice notes (he signs off with “over and out”)
— he deigns to watch some climbing with us, like the olympics (he goes climbing every weekend)

otherwise, he builds pillow forts around us instead of watching

george st pierre's famous mma coach (firas zahabi) says he can't train fighters who say fighting is their top priority in the world

he says when you have priorities above fighting, you can stay more loose, playful, unbeholden to any individual thing

applies to parenting too + if parenting is your top thing, you don’t have anything to fall back on

firas says: “don’t live and die in the cage, don’t live and die on the mats ... there’s so much on the line that your personality is warped” Image

but then when our kid was 3 months old, i watched his head swivel to track the tv and i was like, nope
