NEWS: Atlantic editor Jeffrey Goldberg reports that senior Trump administration officials mistakenly added him to a Signal group chat where they deliberated on strikes against the Houthis in Yemen. National Security Council Spokesperson Brian Hughes says the text chain appears to be authentic.

The group discussed planning for the bombings, current intelligence assessments, and debated whether to launch the military action.

The chat, called “Houthi PC Small Group,” was started by Mike Waltz, National Security Adviser, and included 18 members of the Principals Committee:
▪️ Vice President
▪️ Secretary of Defense
▪️ National Security Advisor
▪️ Secretary of State
▪️ Steven Witkoff
▪️ Director of National Intelligence
▪️ CIA Director
▪️ Trump’s Chief of Staff

The debate over the bombings includes:
➤ VP Vance arguing against striking, saying only 3% of trade passes through the Red Sea.
➤ Ratcliffe, the CIA Director, weighing in in story.
➤ Hegseth arguing that waiting a month wouldn’t change anything.

Goldberg says he didn’t realize the chat was real until the bombings began on March 15. Mike Waltz celebrated in the chat with multiple emojis.Image

THREAD 🧵

Trump’s Middle East envoy, @SteveWitkoff, shared his vision for Gaza and the region with Tucker Carlson. Responsible for negotiating the recent ceasefire, and seemingly also its collapse, Witkoff delves into details of the negotiations, what different stakeholders want, and how he discovered Hamas are more flexible than his Israeli counterparts were suggesting.

He emphasizes that a peace plan for Gaza is the key for regional prosperity, but claims Hamas’ demilitarization is vital to begin that process. He backs Netanyahu’s recent actions in Gaza, claims Hamas was “being inappropriate” for rejecting a revised ceasefire deal that did not include Israel’s permanent withdrawal from Gaza, and says Trump’s bold new plan (of ethnically cleansing Palestinians) has engendered “lively discussions” among regional leaders.

We’re sharing all the key points from the conversation in the thread below. (8 clips) ⬇️

🚨REPORT | In an interview with Al Jazeera, Dr. Basem Naim, member of Hamas’ political bureau, revealed that Hamas had been close to securing a ceasefire deal just before Israel launched a new offensive on Gaza.

He also discussed the status of ceasefire negotiations and the broader political dynamics at play. Thread 🧵 ⬇️

Dr. Naim stated that Hamas had received “a new American proposal from Mr. Witkoff through the mediators,” which aimed to secure a temporary ceasefire in exchange for the release of some prisoners.

“We were up to the last hour before the aggression, we were engaged in these negotiations, and we were near to make a breakthrough in that case.”

He described the proposal as a significant step toward peace. However, according to Naim, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu deliberately derailed the talks for domestic political reasons:

“Netanyahu, for his internal political calculations to get the right radical groups behind him supporting him in the budget affair, decided to go the other way to launch the war against Gaza.” “We might reach soon a bridging proposal.”

Naim outlined the key elements of a proposal Hamas is currently negotiating and believes the group and mediators “have made good steps forward.” It involves the aforementioned 50-day temporary ceasefire, during which Hamas would release some captives in exchange for Palestinian prisoners and increased humanitarian aid into Gaza.

He explained that a temporary ceasefire would need to set the stage for further negotiations aimed at a permanent end to the conflict:

“Return back to the ceasefire… opening the borders, allowing everything to get into Gaza, and then to engage in the negotiations of the second phase… which includes how to end the war, how to reach a permanent ceasefire and the total withdrawal of the Israeli forces.”

THREAD 🧵

The UN Security Council held a meeting today to discuss “The situation in the Middle East, including the Palestinian question.” Here are some of important moments, starting with United States Ambassador Dorothy Shea, the acting representative to the UN. After Israel unilaterally reneged on the mutually agreed ceasefire deal and launched scores of air strikes across Gaza killing more than 400 Palestinians overnight, Shea said, “the blame for resumption of hostilities lies solely with Hamas.”

Amidst reports that President Trump green-lit the Israeli massacres that killed 174 children and 89 women in just a matter of hours, Ambassador Shea said, “we must recognize Hamas’ savagery for what it is.” 2/ The meeting began with a briefing from UN’s Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs, Tom Fletcher who delivered a stark warning on the humanitarian crisis in the Occupied Palestinian Territory. Fletcher expressed deep concern over the resumption of Israeli airstrikes and of Israel unilaterally ending the ceasefire, describing the situation as “our worst fears materialized overnight.”

He also addressed Israel’s complete blockade of essential life-saving supplies since March 2, which has left Gaza’s 2.1 million residents without food, medical supplies, fuel, and cooking gas. “This complete blockade of essential aid, basic necessities, and commercial items will have catastrophic consequences for the people of Gaza, who rely on a consistent flow of support into the region,” he said. Fletcher noted that U.N. requests to access aid stockpiled at the Kerem Shalom crossing had repeatedly been denied.

🚨BREAKING: ISRAEL RESUMES WAR ON GAZA

Israeli Prime Minister’s Office: “Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz have instructed the military to take forceful action against Hamas in the Gaza Strip.”

Medical sources in northern Gaza have confirmed to Drop Site News that aerial bombardments are being heard across the entire Gaza Strip, from north to south. “Everywhere, literally everywhere,” said one source. Netanyahu's Office:

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz have directed the IDF to act forcefully against the Hamas terrorist organization in the Gaza Strip.

This comes after Hamas repeatedly refused to release our abductees and rejected all offers it received from the US President's envoy, Steve Witkoff, and from mediators.

The IDF is currently attacking targets affiliated with the Hamas terrorist organization throughout the Gaza Strip, with the aim of achieving the war goals defined by the political echelon, including the release of all our abductees—living and dead.

From now on, Israel will act against Hamas with increased military force.

The operational plan was presented by the IDF at the end of last week and approved by the political echelon.

🧵THREAD | UN Report Accuses Israel of Systematically Using Sexual and Gender-Based Violence as a Weapon of War Against Palestinians

A damning new report from the UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry accuses Israel of systematically employing sexual, reproductive, and gender-based violence against Palestinians as a tool of war and domination — and of committing genocidal acts through the targeted destruction of sexual and reproductive healthcare in Gaza. The findings, released alongside public hearings in Geneva on March 11–12, mark one of the most severe indictments of Israeli conduct by a major UN body.

Key findings are detailed in the thread (continues below video). KEY FINDINGS:

1. Weaponized Sexual Violence and State-Sanctioned Brutality

The report details a marked rise in sexual and gender-based violence since October 7, 2023, describing it as a deliberate strategy to terrorize Palestinians and reinforce Israeli control. According to Navi Pillay, Chair of the Commission, “there is no escape from the conclusion” that sexual violence is part of Israel’s broader effort to undermine Palestinian self-determination. The report points to specific abuses — forced public stripping and nudity, sexual harassment, rape threats, and genital violence — as standard Israeli military tactics.

REPORT | According to Fox News and much of the rest of the media, Mahmoud Khalil has called “for the total eradication of Western civilization.” Even if the allegation were true, it would be protected speech, but it’s not: the phrase appeared on an Instagram post linked to an organization Khalil has been affiliated with.

However, Drop Site News can report, based on conversations with a source with knowledge of the situation, that Khalil was not involved with any of CUAD’s Instagram posts. He may not even have seen this post, and may not be aware that the phrase is being used as part of a Kafkaesque effort to deport him as a national security threat. ⬇️🧵Image

In a government document obtained by The Washington Post detailing the legal case against Khalil, the U.S. State Department cites Section 237(a)(4)(C)(1) of the Immigration and Nationality Act as the sole legal justification for his arrest and deportation. The statute allows for the deportation of a visa or green card holder if the “Secretary of State has reasonable ground to believe that [an individual’s] presence or activities in the United States would have potentially serious adverse foreign policy consequences for the United States.”

To justify Khalil’s alleged threat to U.S. foreign policy and national security, his opponents have seized on an August 2024 Instagram post from CUAD. The post stated that CUAD was “fighting for the total eradication of Western civilization.”

The full post from the Instagram accounts @cuapartheiddivest and @cubangla read, which Khalil had nothing to do with:

We are Westerners fighting for the total eradication of Western civilization. We stand in full solidarity with every movement for liberation in the Global South. Our Intifada is an internationalist one—we are fighting for nothing less than the liberation of all people. We reject every genocidal, eugenicist regime that seeks to undermine the personhood of the colonized.

As the fascism ingrained in the American consciousness becomes ever more explicit and irrefutable, we seek community and instruction from militants in the Global South, who have been on the frontlines in the fight against tyranny and domination which undergird the imperialist world order.

“Biplob Cholbe” (Revolution must continue)

The caption beneath the post stated:

From the people of Hind’s Hall, a statement in solidarity with the student movement in Bangladesh. Sheikh Hasina has been ousted by the people, but the revolution is not over! Long live the global intifada!

The post has since been deleted; Drop Site News was not able to determine how soon it was removed.Image

REPORT | The Bibas family has stated that they have received no official details about how their loved ones died and have asked the media to stop publishing unverified reports.

Their request comes after Israeli military spokesman Daniel Hagari claimed in a televised statement that Hamas militants “did not shoot the two young boys — they killed them with their bare hands.” He further alleged that militants then “committed horrific acts to cover up these atrocities.”

Hagari said this assessment was based on “forensic findings from the identification process and intelligence that supports these findings,” adding that Israel had shared this information with its international partners.

But, not a shred of evidence was shared publicly to support any of these claims. And, it appears not even with the Bibas family.

“Any publication of details (including references to the treatment of the bodies) is against the family’s wishes, and we ask that this be avoided,” a statement by the family said.
“The family has not received any such details from official sources,” it added.

This complete lack of proof did not stop various prominent figures and media personalities from uncritically repeating Israeli military claims. Here is a partial list: 🧵⬇️

“The image of Germany rising from the ashes after a dark past is crumbling into realizing that denazification would have only been possible if there was a deep commitment to humanization. You have not de-nazified.

If you echo war propaganda and subjugate vulnerable populations into silence… if you’re unable to follow the rules of international law and abide by decisions made by the international criminal court. And most importantly, you have not de-nazified if you’re aiding and abetting a genocide.”

Hebh Jamal (@hebh_jamal) is a Palestinian-American journalist living in Germany. She spoke today about the German government’s anti-Palestinian repression—its crackdown on speech and advocacy—at an event organized by DiEM25, where UN Rapporteur Francesca Albanese also spoke.

Jamal is working on a documentary exploring Germany’s complicity in the Gaza genocide. She was unable to air a rough cut of the film because German police refused to allow her to air a 30-second clip of an interview with a former member of Samidoun, the Palestinian Prisoner Solidarity Network, which advocates for the rights of Palestinians detained by Israel. Airing the footage would violate the German government’s ‘ban on gatherings’ and force the event’s cancellation, the Berlin police told Jamal. German police had initially banned the event from taking place at its original venue, forcing organizers to secure a last-minute alternative location.
