He kept thinking about the technology that helped #recycle and reuse it. Jalaj wondered how he could replicate the system in his own #environment.

First, Jalaj tackled the solid waste by building a toilet with a twin leach pit, with the help of his friends. A twin leach pit is a toilet that can manage faecal waste locally.

We expected in 2020 less anthropogenic emissions from #COVID but in fact the #CH4 growth rate was record high at 15.1 ppt y-1 (@NOAA data )

We ask how changes to the legal definition of #WOTUS under the Clean Water Rule & Navigable Waters Protection Rule alter which wetlands are protected as a function of landscape position and size, taking New York as our case study (largest geographic analysis to date)

What is a pond?! We’re excited to announce our new publication rdcu.be/cP6tH in @SciReports that compiles existing scientific and legal pond definitions, compares how ponds functionally compare to lakes and wetlands, and proposes an evidence-based pond definition. 1/n
While seemingly everyone knows a pond when they see one, we lack a universal pond definition. The confusion causes debates over how many lakes a state has (cough, @mndnr and @WDNR) and creates challenges in upscaling global GHG emissions for ponds, lakes, and wetlands. 2/n
@SciReports Here, we found that existing definitions are largely qualitative– calling ponds small and shallow. 3/n

First of all, what is EMEND? This is a @NSERC_CRSNG funded experimental harvest area where researchers are able to study the effects of retention #harvest strategies on biodiversity, soil properties + more. (2/8)
'Retention harvest' means keeping some trees either individually or as patches after harvest. This might help improve #conservation of #biodiversity within the area & can be used to mimic natural disturbance patterns. (3/8)
