Background: @TheJusticeDept announced today the arrest of 3 individuals associated with the #TwitterHack - Mason Sheppard, aka “Chaewon,” Nima Fazeli, aka “Rolex,” and a third juvenile defendant known as “Kirk,” the alleged mastermind behind the attack. bit.ly/3fd2hT6

I am somewhat sympathetic to Twitter on this. They have a HUGE attack surface. I'm not sure I completely believe 1000 employees have admin access ...guessing this was a guesstimate by journalists. But I'm sure its more than probably should have had access & Twitter lost control.
So whether the hacker(s) ...we believe more than one... social engineered witting or unwitting Twitter employees to gain admin access, or hacked the Twitter Slack channel & found credentials that way, pandora's box is open. Be prepared 4 fake Biden DM messages in the coming wks
So, I unfortunately had to stop using @Relai_ch. Fact is, I can't trust them anymore. Here is why.

1/ Background: When Relai were teasing their new service still in beta, they made a little promo video using the hashtag #crypto and the phrase "crypto investing", while still presenting themselves as bitcoiners, promoting dollar cost averaging (DCA) to an audience of bitcoiners. 
2/ This generated a little bit of negative reaction from several people, who approached the issue nicely and openly, assuming good intentions from Relai's part. Their founder replied that it was marketing for the masses, but they were "Bitcoin only at the beginning"...

Deze "inside jobs" zijn niets nieuws, maar een grotere groep thuiswerkers (al dan niet indirect via huisgenoten) en een groeiende financiële onzekerheid zijn waarschijnlijk wel risicoverhogende factoren. 😕
Overigens vind ik het erg fascinerend om bijna live deze lopende hackaanvallen te kunnen volgen en eventueel een bijdrage te leveren.

[THREAD] Here's what we know so far about today’s #Twitterhack & #Bitcoinscam. As of now, the scam’s main BTC address (bc1...0wlh) received ~$120k in donations in 375 transactions. No funds have been cashed out at exchanges yet.
2/ We know of 2 other donation addresses that were posted by the scammers on hacked Twitter accounts (bc1...d24x and bc1...w39l), which received $6.7k in 100 transactions.
3/ The Ripple address that was posted has not received any funds at this time. There may be other scam addresses; please DM us if you have others.

Lots of people now calling BS on the story that a Twitter employee willingly helped the hackers and that this was just a smokescreen. Hard to know what is true and its certainly possible the hackers could have comprised an insider’s access unwittingly. #twitterhacked #infosec
