Although the court has heard allegations against many former editors, including Murdoch's #TalkTV presenter, Piers Morgan, this is the first time during this trial that a serving national newspaper editor has been accused of involvement in phone hacking.

Graham Johnson, a former Sunday Mirror reporter, told the High Court that “This is an investigation into an organised crime group, which is Mirror Group Newspapers. I investigated drug gangs in Liverpool, fraud factories in south-east London, and street gangs in Birmingham.”

Balance and impartiality are central principles in journalism, but this study argues their conceptual application in news reporting should be subject to more academic scrutiny.
In the UK, the way “due impartiality” has been applied and regulated by broadcasters has raised concerns about promoting a ‘she-said-he-said’ style of reporting, which constructs balance but not scrutiny of competing claims.

On Monday, the flagshit Piers Morgan Uncensored attracted just 64,000 viewers - beaten by a repeat of 1970s sitcom The Good Life on Gold. Narcissistic plum Morgan has suggested Murdoch should make a massive bid to hire Susanna Reid, who has not denied discussions had taken place.
Other talkTV programmes are faring far worse, with just 7,000 people watching toxic hard-right extremist sociopath Tom Newton Dunn, the former Sun political editor who in 2019 published & then unpublished a debunked far-right conspiracy theory linking Jeremy Corbyn to terrorists.

Putting to one side @BBCNews's grotesque focus on the channel crossings, a few days ago hundreds of tweets from hard-right 'patriot' accounts made the absurd & misleading claim that the Govt's immoral #Rwanda plan had been 'successful in deterring channel crossings'.

Typically, despite clear evidence showing that it was weather conditions which paused the channel crossings, the right-wing press - including The Sun, Mail, & Express - amplified the absurd & easily disprovable lie that the Government's #Rwanda plan had worked as a deterrent.
Unhinged GB "News" presenter Patrick Christys joined in with the lie: “Goodness gracious me. It’s only gone & bloody worked... This can’t only be down to wind direction or offshore conditions... This is down to the threat of being deported!" which was amplified by Murdoch's Sun.
