In 1960-61, #pulses acreage in #Punjab was 9.03 lakh hectares with production of 7.09 lakh ton, but; in 2018-19 Kharif, it dropped to 7500 hectares with a production of 6200 tons

The per kg cost of pulse import increased from Rs 16.88 in 2006-07 to Rs 42.80 in 2016-17 (rise of 10%/year). If India were to continue to import large quantities of pulses, the unit cost of such imports is to increase for sure. Why not encourage Punjab farmers to grow pulses ?
Ok it's time for the #strawhouse thread 🧵. Buildings that are already #climatepositive = directly relieve the atmosphere without calculation tricks over lifetime. Straw is a durable passivhaus insulation wall. A agri residue and almost half of it is carbon.

North german centre for sustainable construction in Verden, Germany #NZNB. Highest directly plastered straw insulated building finished already in 2014. We prefabricated straw modules on site in what is now my workplace, a former tank service hall where we show how to do it.
With my wife, we are building an extremely ecological self-sufficient house (made of straw, wood and earth), while being modern too.
The house is out of the grid for electricity & water, and there is no heating system.
The construction has finally started after 1.5 years.
