Steve (@Hawk_RAO) is no stranger to using his home radio observatory set up of Yagis to detect pulsars and has previously detected a Vela pulsar glitch in the past!

So let us look at some #space and ground-based telescopes that give us information about #pulsars via #multiwavelengthastronomy
Most gamma rays coming from space are absorbed by the Earth's atmosphere, so the telescopes are space based. The @fermitelescope & Integral missions have discovered many gamma-ray pulsars
In addition to the X-ray telescopes such as @chandraxray & @NASANuSTAR, the recently launched #NICER mission will help us probe the pulsar interior (I will explain this tomorrow)
So what are these #Pulsars that Jocelyn discovered? They are in fact remnant cores of collapsed massive stars when they die 😮 Watch this animation of Crab supernova from ESA/Hubble
The strong magnetic field of the rotating pulsar strips away its charged particles and emits them as a beam of radiation, that are perceived as pulses when they sweep the Earth like a lighthouse
