MO Attorney General Bailey is abusing his power to attack trans Missourians. We sued to stop his sham investigation into our gender-affirming health care program, which serves patients 16 & older.
On Thursday, 4/13, AG Bailey issued an emergency rule that would effectively ban gender-affirming care in MO for adults & young people. We encourage any Missourian interested in starting gender-affirming care to make an appointment before the regulation takes effect on 4/27.

I'm here today with 5 amazing teenagers from @CRCStLouis, as well as dozens and dozens of clergy, activists, and educators. All drove 2+h here, leaving at 530am, to testify against these racist, homophobic bills.
We're starting with a bill to better support deaf and hearing impaired kids here in Missouri. It's kind of wild listening to testimony on a bill that would make Missourians lives better, rather than legislated bigotry. Not used to it in #MOLeg!
I have a trans kid. At 5yo, he told us his correct pronouns and gender. Transition at that point was communicating that to everyone so he wasnt misgendered.
At 6, transition was a haircut and letting him go shopping.

Now he's ten. We've educated him on puberty and what will happen to his body. He wants his voice to drop and a chance to have a beard; he does not want breasts, and he doesn't want to menstruate. We're going to get him on puberty blockers soon.
We aren't going to force him to deal with dysphoria when there is a safe, reversible way to avoid it. There is no surgery; no doctor would do it, and we don't want it. The blockers will allow him to develop safely and happily, and that's all any transition is supposed to do.

He’s 9, so “gender affirming care” at his age involves haircuts, boys clothes, and not much more than that. We checked in with a counselor when he first transitioned, but we haven’t needed much support as he’s a really well adjusted kid. 3/

First up is SB34, which would encourage public schools to offer electives in High School on the "Hebrew Bible, Old Testament, and New Testament"
I thought about testifying on this bill, and encouraging an expanded version, which would promote the study of religious traditions from around the world that are found in Missouri (eg, the Quran, Hindu texts, etc...).
I’m grateful that my father never traveled to the state Capitol to put on public record that he thought I was less of an athlete than my male counterparts. Just love, support, and my biggest cheering section. That’s what he gave me. #ProtectTransKids #MoLeg #MoSen
A few things: these bills do not force boys into girls sports, biblical values have no place in our laws, Jesus didn’t mention what team kids can play on, a transgender child is not a mental illness, putting hate, fear, and lack of knowledge makes for terrible policy.
Deadnaming a transgender woman to prove that you are supportive of trans people isn’t the win you think it is. Neither is using the wrong pronoun.

Tuesday in the Missouri Capitol was awful. We left our homes at 5am to testify at an 8am hearing on the #OmnibusBillOfHate. But dozens and dozens of us (myself and a whole bunch of students included) were prevented from testifying by the Committee Chair, who shut off testimony
The afternoon was much, much worse. We had hearings on EIGHT bills targeting trans kids, with testimony starting at 4:30pm and going past midnight (and for those in STL/KC, that means a 2h drive after that.)

Birth certificate bills try to make it harder for trans folks to have ID match their gender identity. They tend to force a male or female designation based upon sex assigned at birth. Some ban a non-binary “X” marker or require surgery to update a birth certificate.
