2/ This is part of my larger project of translating disability issues into halakhic language. IMO there are so many people in needless pain. Yet knowledgeable Orthodox Jews will understand that Jewish law is broad, deep & rich to accommodate any issue.
3/ I am not a posek, I am operating as a "halakhist" - basically a legal scholar with an expertise in medical issues (among others) - and IMO while invisible disabilities lack overt signs, they can be "translated" by seeing the behavior surrounding them.

There is a profound difference between #history and #memory. History is HIS story - an event that happened sometime else to someone else. Memory is MY #story - something that happened to me and is part of who I am.
To be a #Jew is to know that over and above history is the task of memory. More than any other #faith, #Judaism made this a matter of religious obligation.
#Pesach is when we recount not our history but our collective memory as a people, where the past does not die but lives, in the chapter we write in our own lives and in the story we tell our children.

(#Pesach / #Passover thread...) When people talk about religion, they tend to speak about beliefs. Which, for Jews, is very odd.
Yes, belief is important, but for us, religion is fundamentally about rituals, the things we do together as an expression of collective memory and shared ideals.
Ritual is the poetry of deed, the choreography of faith, and nowhere is this clearer than on Pesach.
On it, we tell the story of the framing event of Jewish history, the exodus from Egypt and the long walk from slavery to freedom.
