Today, I went out to photograph some spots along a country road near our home. I have been making note of places where I want to pull over at various hours to photograph sunsets, landscapes, horses, etc. This desperation stems from...
...the dwindliing store of photos on my hard disk. Like The Lady of Shalott I am half sick of the shadows I create of my face. I took a diversion today by posting a picture of my foot wearing one of my art socks.

My hair's getting long, but not long enough to tie into a ponytail, which is my intention in this time when we avoid barbers. You can see how long my hair has become in the selfie I posted today. In it I sit at my desk...
...working on my laptop, my immense desk towering over me and clutter filling the space that is not filled by electronics. I chose black and white for this composition as I do for all my best selfies. It's unique because...
...I show myself from the back, a trick I mastered by resorting to the ten second timer in one of my cameras. I don't know how I feel about this photo -- perhaps you have something to say. I'd be very interested.

As promised, the cats arrived today along with a photo of me hiding my face. I have enough photos for maybe a week or two.

Sometimes I put up a blurry, out of focus photo because I like the composition. That is the case of one I took of Aphrodite.

Lynn was sick today and avoiding me by staying in the loft. I had issues of my own with dizziness that I remedied with a nap. Neither of us is wheezing, so it shouldn't be Covid.

I ran into a jerk on the IRC channel who annoyed that he had Covid. When I asked him questions...

I had long suspected that there were ways to game the system at #Flickr. In the back of my head, I questioned the huge number of likes some photographers got. Today I ran into a guy with an account whose photos were so bad...

...it would have been surprising if he had one or two faves. Think washed out, bad composition, etc. He averaged more than a hundred likes per photo. This threw me for a loop and for awhile I felt like Job with all the people giving me advice...
...about how I should learn from this sociopath. One friend did some research for me and discovered that there are ways to buy faves, bots that will like your stuff. I will study it more so I can tell you how it works, but for now I shall be stupid...

I'm clutching for subjects, visiting @YouTube for videos describing projects you can perform if you are quarantined. Today I went out to go to the pharmacy and then find a place for a couple of dozen shots but my car battery was dead.
Lynn drove me to the pharmacy, but I refrained from asking her to drive me places. That project awaits my battery being jumped today or tomorrow. I'll need to spend an hour driving around so that should present me with plenty of opportunities.
I think I can stop boring you with #selfies for a few days, but only after I present this one last one which is an experiment in motion blur as well as the classic #blackandwhite portrait:

Late every night -- as I finish sorting my photos at #Flickr -- a darkness comes over me. Often it comes without subject. This mood is impossible to visualize in a photograph because outsiders expect a cause for every #depression. There is none.
"Cautious" is the title I gave to the last photo. It's the proper state of mind for the times. We need to be cautious. I have been inside since the 7th of July due to #COVID19, avoiding my fellow human beings who walk around without masks, merrily spreading infection.

There's a group on #Flickr whose title always gives me a laugh: "Narcissism in Color". When I make selfies, I have to admit that I am very much like Narcissus of mythology: the person who looks at them the most is me. This audience leans over the edge of the pool and dreams.
There's a strong association between #narcissism and dreams in #mythology. Many of us dream of that face in the pool, giving it fame that we think we deserve. The Instagrams of young people attract many likes. But this is no country for old men.
