Thinking about how in the last two years or so #StarWars has set up so many pieces for an overarching cloning plot line throughout the whole timeline that are just a few unconnected dots away from being a timeline unifying story (SUPER LONG THREAD)
It all starts with AOTC and TCW but mostly just in how cloning works on Kamino. The clones, while developing unique personalities, are still genetically the same as the donor: Jango Fett. Boba is a clone altered to age normally, showing us changes can be made to the process
Then we enter the modern clone storytelling with #Mandalorian season 1. Kuiil mentions that Grogu is not a “strandcast,” a word we had never heard before this mention. We learn that Kuiil worked in “gene farms” for the Empire and that Grogu looked “too evolved” to be a strandcast

First and foremost, the concept and writing are a disaster. A talented cast is brought to its knees by the plodding, contrived dialogue and juvenile plot. The blame here lies with director Jenkins, who wrote this monstrosity, and may have killed the film franchise. #WW84
#GalGadot remains a compelling star, but she and poor #ChrisPine have to wade through a hideous script that allows them none of the chemistry that drove the original. The wonderful #PedroPascal of #Mandalorian fame is reduced to comic villainous excess. #WW84

It honestly, truly blows my mind that some people don’t see (or don’t want to see) how #LukeSkywalker in #TheMandalorian connects so beautifully to Luke in #TheLastJedi. It adds immense emphasis to so much of what TLJ is.

When we find Luke in #TheLastJedi, he’s broken because of a fall from grace we didn’t see. But we understand that it’s because the heights he fell from were so great. He distances himself from the Skywalker of old because he sees himself as a microcosm of a failed way of life.
He speaks multiple times about the inherent pressure & the fallibility of his legendary status. He even goes so far as to say “You don't need Luke Skywalker. You think what? I'm gonna walk out with a laser sword and face down the whole First Order?”
“Just for once, let me look on you with my own eyes.”
Thinking about this #Mandalorian parallel has had me so emotional. Pure poetry, but with a beautiful inverse effect. Now, the son asks the father. And not in death, & not in an ending. But with a promise of new beginnings.

The whole idea of the past (Luke) looking upon the present & seeing his story reflected, while we the viewers are focused in on #Grogu & Din, just works for me. Some will call the episode “safe.” I call it a synthesis of new & old. Which is what #StarWars is to me.
The foundation of #StarWars is a reinterpretation if myth & classic influences. SW fans know them well! But now, the myth that it reinterprets IS STAR WARS. So what do you do? You can’t run from that. So you embrace it. You embrace it in ways like this.
I’ve always wanted to do this piece and even though Maul is not showing up on Mandalorian any mention of him would make me happy.

Wow. Nearly 3000 replies because one woman voices her opinion that we shouldn’t be at a point anymore where we just accept media that normalizes patriarchy. Cool cool cool. Everyone’s having a normal one I see.
Most mass media overwhelmingly centers men, and perpetuates patriarchy. The #Mandalorian is no exception. It wastes no time in establishing a patriarchal setting: the bartender is a man, the bar patrons are men, the cab driver is a man, etc. The first “female” we meet is the ship
It may introduce a few significant female characters later on. Great. It doesn’t change the fact it perpetuates and normalizes patriarchy. We all accept patriarchy in our mass media without batting an eye. When someone calls it out, we get upset. I wonder why.
AKSHULLY carbonite was used very specifically for the transportation of goods and not people, as stated by Lando in Empire States Back, which is why using it on Han Solo was so effective and dramatic. Now it’s just another cool thing shoehorned in for fan service. #Mandalorian

There used to be an entire facility needed to freeze goods in carbonite with giant metal claw cranes. Nowhere was it previously stated you could freeze a full sized human with a mini chamber and a couple of air hoses on a space ship. I will die on this hill thanks.

‘The World According to Jeff Goldblum’. I just love this guys brain. Art style is fantastic, as is the pacing and humour. Didn’t learn to much I didn’t know about “Sneakers” but an overall typically well polished show.
Also let me just say I really appreciated Jeff’s monologue on consumerism and our constant fascination with what’s next. Fantastic stuff.
