The first one was the motto of the Kayabeyli family, often used as an intimidation tactic or to show a false unity in a deeply broken family. Iskender has sought recognition and to feel like an equal part of Kayabeylis. It was his driving force throughout the show. +
The last time Iskender said these words was ironic, to his mother, when he discovered that his father figure Celebi has used childhood trauma to gain political points and keep him by his side. By that point, he has already severed ties with him and AILE. He was plotting revenge.+
A thought... Gray characters, true gray ones, are rare. I love them the most because they are the most human. They make terrible mistakes, but they grow and learn to be better. That progression is a precious thing to watch. Once you get to know them, you learn to understand +++
Their actions (not justify them). You start seeing things from their perspective. The easiest thing to do is to judge someone at first glance. People usually keep their first impression on something/someone until the end. Which is why gray characters are difficult to pull off +++
Convincingly... The actor/writer has to make you believe in their layers. To make you say, OK, so now this makes more sense. I understand the motivation behind his/her actions. If a show/movie/book manages to do that, you will empathise with such a character even more, because +y

Unpopular opinion... Bak, you all know that I adore #iskenderkayabeyli... But I honestly believe it was a plan all along for him to be the culprit. I believe Burcu had enough opportunities to exculpate him if she wanted... But she didn't. I'll probably do a thread about this...

This is remorse... This is regret... This is guilt, so wonderfully portrayed by our darling #berkergüven. Iskender is a human. A human who made a horrible mistake. He never denied he had something to do with it. He always said it was an accident. And in his mind, it was.
