We are a group of seven queer activists and artists who have been occupying a mansion in Camps Bay for just under two weeks. #takeupspace #webelonghere #holdyourground
2. We are here in protest of many issues, that are layered, complex & nuanced - as are our identities as queer people, and as those who have historically been divided by race and class. we have connected across struggle because we are in solidarity
3. we believe in justice, dignity, collective healing and our historical right to be allowed safe space in beautiful areas that we have historically been displaced from, areas we still would never be able to live in. #takeupspace #webelonghere #holdyourground

2 As organisations, we deal with the real consequences of homelessness, formal unemployment and housing insecurity which affects everyone in SA and especially affects people who are queer, trans womxn who are sex workers, and LGBTQI+ people who are from other countries in Africa.
3. We support actions that raise awareness about...income inequality in...one of the world’s most unequal countries... This is...why we have supported movements that..address inequality: @ReclaimCT, @NdifunaUkwazi & (those who) advocate for the rights of sex workers and migrants
Thank you for all the messages of support. The rental company that manages the mansion we are occupying has threatened to involve the police despite the fact that evictions are currently still illegal.

We must reject this perception of occupiers that invites violence on people simply in need of homes.
