We in Ireland are experiencing the Nordic model in all of its glory.
Under NM we are routinely evicted.
We have our funds seized.
We are arrested, imprisoned and deported.
We hear weekly of SWers targeted for working alone and brutally robbed, left with no recourse as turning to the Gardai will make their circumstances worse.
This is what it was designed to do.
When friends and associates warned @FitzgeraldFrncs that SWers would be harmed, she reportedly responded that perhaps the risk of harm might discourage them.

Press release from 29th April
Gardaí questions 36 men but many more sex workers have been arrested says Sex Workers Alliance Ireland
Gardaí should protect the most vulnerable. Instead our laws put marginalised people in danger and waste precious Garda resources.
36 men have been questioned over purchase of sex in the past few days and, while this is a huge number this is still far less than the 55 workers who have been prosecuted for working together in safety*, so called brothel-keeping #DecrimForSafety
* From statistics we got from the Central Statistics office we know 55 people have been arrested for brothel keeping since the law was introduced in 2017 #SupportSafeSexWork

Hello! Thank you so much Neville Southall for letting us use this account to talk about our message. This is @ladygrew tweeting for @SWAIIreland, the Sex Workers Alliance Ireland, a sex worker-led organisation, who advocates and supports all sex workers on the island of Ireland.
A major focus for us is preventing criminalisation of sex work. Today is the 2 yr anniversary of the Sexual Offenses Act in Ireland, which criminalised the purchase of sex, and doubled already existing penalties for escorts working in pairs or groups. #DecrimForSafety
Client criminalisation was introduced purportedly to protect vulnerable people in sex work, but instead it has created "buyers' market" with clients having the bargaining power. #DecrimForSafety #SupportSafeSexWork @swaiireland
