This week, the UK has reported:

🔵 8,858 new cases (down 20%)
🔴 367 new deaths (down 31%)
🟡 4,201 hospital inpatients (down 14%)
🟠 95 ICU/Ventilation inpatients (down 10%)

Here are some additional case figures!

Reported case rates are still mostly falling throughout the UK, and across the planet as a whole. Although of course, a large part of that is due to a reduction in testing. ImageImageImageImage
The hospital figures are falling across the UK too!

Here are some of the hospital admission figures for England. It has been a lot of up and down over 2022/2023, but the rates right now are some of the lowest they've been throughout that period. Image

As of today, Northern Ireland will no longer be releasing any case or death data, so going forward those figures on the page will just be for England / Scotland / Wales.

#Covid19UK #coronavirusuk #DailyCovidUpdate ImageImageImageImage
I believe the hospital data will still be getting released, but only once a week rather than daily.

And weekly death data should still be getting released by NISRA here: nisra.gov.uk/news/weekly-de…
And of course, the ONS Infection survey will still be running, giving an alternative for case figures in Northern Ireland.

The figures there will be more accurate, although not as timely, and not as useful at a local level

Also, all of the changes I mentioned for the Scotland page in my earlier update are also happening on the UK page, with the same timescales being used for the weekly figures

Torridge in the South West of England now has the highest 7-day case rate in the UK, after cases have nearly doubled there in the past week.

#Covid19UK #coronavirusuk #DailyCovidUpdate
All of the weekly data on the UK page has been updated now too, including these vaccination figures!

Looks like we should hit 50% of 12-17 year olds being vaccinated with their first dose in the coming days!
This chart was updated too, putting the overall situation into perspective.

Unfortunately cases are going up again, but hopefully it will just be another repeat of them rising for a little while, and then falling sharply out of the blue!

For the first time in a month, Scotland no longer has the highest 7 day case rate in the UK. That is now Wales, who have been seeing a bit of an increase over the past week.

#Covid19UK #coronavirusuk #DailyCovidUpdate
That is true at a local authority level too, where Neath Port Talbot now have the highest case rate in the UK, as cases in West Dunbartonshire continue to fall.

Also I'm not going to do a big thread this week, but I'll share some of the weekly charts below!
First here is this one, showing the current situation across the UK at a glance.

And also a few of the ones showing vaccinations by age (still no data on under 18s included in them though.. hopefully they'll be in there soon!)

Over 5 billion vaccinations have now been administered across the planet! 🥳💉💉💉💉💉

That accounts to about 25% of the worlds entire population now being fully vaccinated, and another 8% partially vaccinated

#Covid19UK #coronavirusuk #DailyCovidUpdate
Here are some more figures on the global vaccinations!

As expected, the rollout has not been equal. Europe for example has fully vaccinated nearly half of its entire population, whereas Africa is on just 3%.

And nearly 2 of those 5 billion vaccinations have been in China alone!
Also, I've changed these charts on the UK local page.

In addition to some design changes, the scales on the map have been updated to account for the rising cases, and the popups on it now give more information

On the table, you can now search for 'cities' to see just those!

Sadly 174 new deaths were reported throughout the UK, which is up 4 from last Tuesday.

Deaths still don't seem to have peaked here, despite UK wide cases peaking over a month ago now.

#Covid19UK #coronavirusuk #DailyCovidUpdate
Also, I've started making some changes on the UK local page now!

First, the cases and deaths by specimen chart here now shows 4 areas, along with some other design changes. And by default, it will now show these 4 cities, one for each nation.
And second, I've added this map to show the number of new cases reported today in each local authority.

The colours are based on per capita figures, but you can zoom in to see a label that has the actual daily increase on it.

The UK is now averaging over 30,000 new cases a day again, after dropping down to as low as 26,000 new cases a day a few weeks ago.

#Covid19UK #coronavirusuk #DailyCovidUpdate
Also in terms of changes, the two country comparison tables on the UK page have been updated now!

On the basic table there is now a 12 week trend of cases/deaths for each country, which will be updated once a week on Sunday.
Then on the detailed table there has been a more drastic design change, and the sections for cases, deaths, and vaccinations have all been adjusted to look roughly the same as one another

There is also a 'new today' and a 'change from previous 7 days' column for vaccinations now

Unfortunately 170 new deaths were reported throughout the UK today, which is the highest in a day since early March.

#Covid19UK #coronavirusuk #DailyCovidUpdate
Also, I'll try to tweet out a thread later tonight covering some of the weeks figures, but for now here is an update on changes!

First is that the 20 day trend on this chart is now a 12 week trend, with each column representing a week (the most recent week is furthest right)
Then the charts showing English cases by age range were adjusted a little.

The 0-4 / 5-9 / 10-14 / 15-19 groups were amended to 0-9 / 10-19.

Also, the chart on the right is now just lines instead of columns, and you can select one or more groups to show via the search bar

Four of the top six local authorities with the highest 7 day case rates in the UK right now are in Northern Ireland.

Cases are still rising quite a bit there, and are up 17% from this time last week.

#Covid19UK #coronavirusuk #DailyCovidUpdate ImageImageImageImage
Also, all of these charts on the main UK page have been updated to the new style now!

For most of them, there hasn't really been many other changes, other than some small design adjustments. ImageImageImage
This chart is a bit different though.

Instead of toggling between total and per 100k population figures, all of the data is now included on the same chart, so that you can switch between the different metrics easier. ImageImageImageImage

Sadly 96 new deaths were reported throughout the UK today, which is almost double the number reported last Tuesday

Also I've included a little thread below covering some of the UK figures from the past week!👇

#Covid19UK #coronavirusuk #DailyCovidUpdate
First, here are some figures on cases, which are still rising.

This neat little percentage change chart on the official UK Gov dashboard shows the rate of growth in cases. It was slowing down for most of July, but it has started increasing again, and quite sharply in recent days
The case rate in England right now has surpassed what Scotland reached during their recent peak, and isn't really showing much signs of slowing down.

Northern Ireland has had a pretty sharp spike in recent days too, and has just climbed above Scotland also.

There were 50 new deaths from the virus reported throughout the UK today, which is the highest in a day since early April.

Also I've included a thread below covering some of the figures over the past week! 👇

#Covid19UK #coronavirusuk #DailyCovidUpdate
First, here are some figures on cases, which you can see are still rising quite a bit.

They are currently rising fastest in England, and falling only in Scotland. England will likely overtake Scotland to have the highest 7 day specimen case rate within the next few days
At a more local level, the North East of England has the highest case rate by some distance.

The North West has slowed down quite a bit and looks like it is going to start falling soon, but every other area of England has had at least a 30% increase from last week

28,773 new cases and 37 new deaths reported throughout the today UK, which is the highest both figures have been in a while.

Also I've included a thread below covering some of the figures over the past week!

#Covid19UK #coronavirusuk #DailyCovidUpdate
First here are the cases, which are still rising throughout the UK.

They do appear to be peaking in Scotland, although the cases in Scotland have been rising for a lot longer, and are at a much higher rate than the rest of the UK.

So the UK wide peak may not be so close
At a local level cases are rising in all parts of the UK.

The North East of England are currently seeing the highest rates though, and have had quite the surge in the past week.

At a local authority level, Dundee City has the highest rates.

Important for those living with #HIV. As it currently stands, if you have a #CD4 over 200 and no other health conditions it is expected you will fall into phase 6 for getting the #covid #vaccine.
However, the #vaccine is not currently expected to be given through #HIV clinics (although this may change). This means that if you have not shared your status with your GP it is likely that you will not be considered for the #covidvaccine until later phases!

In 2017, a man running the London marathon showed some of the most incredible sportsmanship ever.

We think it’s a story we all need to hear, as we wait for today’s announcements about #coronavirus restrictions.
It was April 2017 when runner David Wyeth was running the London marathon.

Just 300 metres from the end, his race was run. His legs had turned to jelly, and he was at the point of collapse.
After 26 miles of gruelling effort, he had longed to see the finish line – but, having turned the final corner, the sight of the last 300m seemed too much to bear.
