Ok so first of all, there are a lot of really great climate investments in the IRA. There's also some bad stuff. But it is really hard to choose the most exciting provisions, imo. These transformational $$ will help build a just and thriving clean energy economy.
Amongst the tax provisions, the clean power tax credits with direct pay for non-profit entities, and the clean manufacturing tax credits, are two of my favorites.

The organising, informing, showcasing and commitment making at #ClimateWeekNYC is carrying on and the @ClimateCLG team will be hard at work contributing, but I'm stepping out and heading home and thought I'd jot down a few reflections 1/n
First up, it's worth noting that given a call to do more, raise ambition, face up to the climate challenge, then actors across the world have responded. 2/n
Countries have committed to raising their climate targets, they have pledged more money to fund resilience and the climate transition, they have set exit dates for coal and deadlines for hitting net zero. 3/n

I grew up loving the US. As I became aware of what we did in Vietnam, and as I learned more about the civil rights movement, I feel conflicted.
On the one hand, a model of press & religious freedoms. But this country was built on stolen land, genocide, enslavement, imperialism.

It's easy to feel shame about being a US-er, but shame can distort and limit us as environmental activists.
I think we should all work to love the US, and the people in this country.

First point: Nesbit reported that his research shows that trying to inoculate teenagers against tobacco advertising by telling them that smoking will make them die before their time doesn't work. But....

Telling teenagers that they're being targeted and manipulated by tobacco companies who are shamelessly trying to addict them actually *does* make them much less likely to take up smoking.
