O Brasil registrou oito mortes e 47.281 casos prováveis de chikungunya, uma alta de 40% em relação ao mesmo período de 2021. Os dados são do Ministério da Saúde e foram divulgados no boletim epidemiológico 16, que reúne informações de 2 de janeiro a 23 de abril de 2022. 🧶👉 
No país foram registrados 22,2 casos por 100 mil habitantes. A maior taxa foi observada na região Nordeste (65,9 casos por 100 mil), seguida pelo Centro-Oeste (15,6) e Norte (8,4).
Em relação às mortes, seis foram no Ceará, uma no Maranhão e outra no Mato Grosso do Sul. Há 12 óbitos em investigação, no Ceará (2), na Bahia (2), em São Paulo (2), na Paraíba (1), em Pernambuco (1), em Minas Gerais (1), em Mato Grosso do Sul (1), em Mato Grosso (1) e Goiás (1).

Something 'flattened' the dengue curve in 2017-2018. Every year in Brazil, cases of #dengue rise around March, when conditions are favourable (mosquitoes, rain, temperature). But, for some reason, in those two years, dengue cases were low in all regions of the country. 📉🦠
Infectious diseases are transmitted in a population of susceptible hosts following a rate called Force of Infection (FOI).
@RJOidtman, @guido_camargo and @TAlexPerkins estimated dengue FOI for each region in Brazil, and found viral transmission was indeed quite low in 2017-2018.
