“एक दिवस आम्ही अदृश्य होऊ,” असे तुवालू - Tuvalu देशाचे नागरिक गेली काही वर्ष म्हतायत. समुद्र सर्व वाळू खात आहे. पूर्वी तिथे वाळू लांब लांब पसरली जायची, आणि लोकांना तिथे पोहताना कोरल दिसायचे. आता सर्व वेळ ढगाळ वातावरण आहे आणि कोरल पण मरण पावले आहेत. तुवालू बुडत आहे. 
हे सगळं वाचून भितीदायक वाटतं ना? खरंच तुवालू बुडत आहे. तुवालू हा देश म्हणजे जगातील किमान भेट दिलेला देश आहे. केवळ २००० लोकं वर्षभरातून तुवालूला भेट देतात (फेसबुकवरसुद्धा फक्त १० हजार लोकांनी तिथं check in केलंय).

ज्याने १९७८ मध्ये युनायटेड किंगडममधून स्वातंत्र्य मिळवले. ऑस्ट्रेलिया देशाच्या उत्तर-पूर्वेकडे तर फिजी देशाच्या उत्तरेला तुवालू हा देश आहे. फुनाफुटी ही तुवालूची राजधानी आहे. शक्यतो गुगल मॅप्सवर बघितलं तर दिसत नाहीच परंतु नावाने लगेच सापडतो पण असंख्य लोकांनी कधी सर्चही केले नसेल.

On this day in May, a stranger offered to take my photo as I lay on the rocks on the "beach" in Nice, France.
Later, I was curious as to why there were so many people at the train station and then saw actress #TildaSwinton standing (very tall!) with her entourage boarding the 20-minute train from Nice to Cannes. Because, unbeknownst to me, Cannes Film Festival was happening.
