The motion was highly commended for the quality of its drafting and content - and I’ve received really encouraging feedback, especially from the party’s Health team. However, it ultimately fell because the motion did not address an issue that had arisen unexpectedly.

A thread because I can't keep up with all the agendas, minutes, live streams and municipal machinations. If you're sitting in council chambers in Ontario, you need to DO BETTER! If your discussions and decisions sound anything like 10, 5, or even 2 years ago, you must stop now!
Everything you decide on today needs to be radically different than ever before. You need to stop taking new land and putting it under concrete. You need to make space for more people in places where stuff is easy to get to so they can walk. You need to stop pillaging the future!

If we look broadly at the given history of Charles I, it seems like he did pretty much the same thing his father did, shutting down Parliament whenever he liked and stealing freely from all those around him. So why did he fail where other kings succeeded?
Should we believe the mainstream historians who tell us he just made more mistakes than previous kings? No, we shouldn't. We shouldn't believe anything mainstream historians tell us, and least of all things like this.

The warning reads: “The river Ouse at the Viking recorder is currently at 2.82m and is expected to peak between 3m and 3.2m between 23:45 tonight and 01:00 on Sunday morning 20th December 2020.
“We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are checking defences and closely monitoring the forecast". There is also a warning in place on the River Ouse at Naburn Lock, issued at 7.21pm.

There's an urgent need to disband the Internal Drainage Boards. They tend to be dominated by landowners and unaccountable to government. Their interest is in speeding water off farmland. If there's a city at the bottom of the catchment (eg #York), too bad.
It often takes a crisis to expose the dysfunctional way a country is run. Every time homes and infrastructure flood, we get a glimpse of how powerful landed interests still dominate, and the great harm this causes.
I suppose we can safely say that now #TheFrighteners have been so successfully and publicly put on a certain sector their combined angst will spew a diarrhoea of spin & warp whilst trying to use THAT VERY THING to generate $£Es Some with automated AdTech software already bought.
2/ Some bought by gormless companies, by mistake, some in full knowledge or partial knowledge of what it could do. It will be interesting as time goes on to see who apparently DIDN'T CARE about the likely instigation of its more negative 'dark' capabilities looking to 'side-step'
3/ or even 'wrong-foot' Irish & EU regulation standards, & possibly law. This too is a kind of #climatechange & #ClimateAction in itself, a would be mammoth untouchable iceberg of 'dominion' & 'control' being melted out into an ocean of citizens' scrutiny & advancement for change

It's because we need to mobilise the North to win this fight against Brexit. The north is where Brexit can and will be stopped.

2) If it were just about passion, I’d be going to Maidenhead on 24 March – to shout at Theresa May and wave a flag. But passion itself is going to get us nowhere. We need strategy to succeed. And the North is the place where we can best turn the tide.
3) The great cities of the North voted remain – the people of #Manchester, #Leeds, #Liverpool and #York knew what was and still is in their best interest. They all have strong groups: @Mcr4eu, @leedseurope, @Liverpool4EU and @York4EU who go on the streets and keep up the fight.
