The mother of Majdal (see @hetvergetenvolk) has died. For years, we tried to reunite him with his mother in Germany. The last weeks, we tried to arrange an emergency visa for him and his sister Sipan as the mother was very ill. They didn’t get one, and now it’s too late. #yezidi
Majdal and Sipan are from Kocho, Sinjar. They were both kidnapped by IS, along with their mother and siblings. Their mother lived in Germany since 2015. She was part of a special asylum program for Yezidi’s. Majdal escaped in 2017, Sipan in 2021. Video of their reunification:
Majdal was 14 when he escaped from IS. We tried to apply for family reunification, but nothing worked out. In Germany, authorities said they should apply in Iraq, and in Iraq they said they should arrange it in Germany. For years, they were sent back and forth.

Today the United Nations @UN investigations @UNITAD_Iraq confirmed what we have all known: the #ISIS #Daesh attacks on #Yezidi #Yazidi was genocide.
As outlined by the @UNCoISyria in 2016, this was genocide in intent and execution.

Many individuals, organizations, and even countries from around the world have worked hard to make sure that this is shown to be true, including those inside and out of the #Yezidi #Yazidi community.
Even though it is a great achievement by the Yezidi community as a whole to see the world recognize this as genocide, there remains tremendous work to do. That includes the pursuit of justice in court cases, but it also includes tackling the root causes of Yezidi suffering.
International concern and pity for the welfare and condition of #ISIS #Daesh members held in detention, from the reputable and esteemed @hrw @KenRoth @lettatayler , may have international legal weight but is missing the bigger picture.

You can go ahead and find all the verses against kaffirs and polytheists in your book. Now imagine for a moment all those verses were against Muslims with "proper context." Would you not find these verses hateful? You need courage to examine this.
